SWTCH Energy Expands Portfolio With New Chargers

SWTCH Energy launches the Flex Charger and Smart Outlet, completing its Level 1 through DCFC portfolio with OCPP-compliant hardware integrated into its Cortex software platform.

SWTCH Energy has launched two new hardware products: the SWTCH Flex Charger and the SWTCH Smart Outlet. The additions give the Toronto-based company a full EV charging lineup spanning Level 1 through high-power DC fast charging. Both products integrate natively with the company’s Cortex software platform.

Highlights

  • SWTCH now offers an end-to-end charging portfolio from smart outlets to high-power DCFC
  • The Flex Charger is available in Level 1 and Level 2 configurations
  • The Smart Outlet uses a bring-your-own-cable design to reduce cable theft repair costs
  • All new hardware is OCPP-compliant and integrates with SWTCH Cortex energy management software

Full-Spectrum Charging Hardware

The Flex Charger and Smart Outlet were designed for property owners who need scalable, low-cost EV charging. Together with existing SWTCH hardware, the lineup eliminates the need to manage multiple vendors or networks across a single facility or portfolio of sites.

Both devices comply with the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP). They connect directly to SWTCH Cortex, the company’s software layer. Cortex handles energy management, offline charging, billing, access control, and analytics.

Addressing Cable Theft and Deployment Costs

The Smart Outlet’s bring-your-own-cable approach targets a persistent industry problem. Cable theft remains a widespread issue at charging sites. By removing the attached cable, SWTCH shifts responsibility to the driver and reduces site owner maintenance costs.

Additionally, the outlet supports ultra-low-cost overnight charging. This makes it suitable for residential garages and commercial parking structures. Property owners can deploy it without overbuilding electrical capacity.

Scalable, Unified Network

SWTCH Cortex unifies all hardware into a single load-managed network. Operators can mix and match charger types based on site needs. As a result, deployments can start small and expand over time.

“As EV adoption accelerates, operators need charging that is flexible, cost-effective, and easy to scale,” said Carter Li, CEO of SWTCH Energy. “We’re giving customers purpose-built hardware that works seamlessly with SWTCH Cortex so they can future-proof their facilities while delivering reliable charging for every driver.”

Market Position

SWTCH reports more than 25,000 chargers deployed across North America. Its customer base includes residential communities, commercial buildings, highway corridors, and municipal networks. Clients include CBRE, Greystar, and Google. For more information, visit www.swtchenergy.com.
