The fully electric Volvo EX30 SUV has received a maximum five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests. This recognition underscores Volvo’s longstanding commitment to safety, proving that even the company’s smallest SUV upholds its reputation as a leader in automotive safety. Designed for urban environments, the EX30 combines modern restraint technology with a robust suite of safety features to protect both drivers and pedestrians.
Key Highlights:
- Five-star rating from Euro NCAP, reaffirming Volvo’s commitment to safety.
- Advanced safety systems, including driver alert monitoring and intersection auto brake.
- Door opening alert to prevent cycling accidents, enhancing urban safety.
The Euro NCAP program is a leading independent car safety assessment initiative in Europe, aimed at helping consumers make informed decisions regarding the safety performance of vehicles available in the market. The Volvo EX30 excelled in the latest Euro NCAP tests, ensuring its safety features extend beyond typical safety rating requirements and real-world scenarios.
“While we always design our cars to be safe in the real world and not only to excel in safety ratings, this result underscores the strong safety credentials of the EX30,” said Åsa Haglund, the head of Volvo’s Safety Centre. “With the EX30, we have taken our city safety to the next level, by creating a small SUV that looks after you as well as other traffic participants on busy city streets.”
The Volvo EX30 features modern restraint technologies and a structural design that meets Volvo’s stringent safety standards, which often exceed official testing requirements. Volvo’s approach to safety is based on over 50 years of real-world accident research, equipping the EX30 with advanced features that help protect both occupants and other road users.
Active Safety Features
In addition to its passive safety features, the EX30 offers an extensive array of active safety technologies aimed at preventing accidents. These include an advanced driver alert system, designed to detect when the driver may not be fully attentive and prompt them accordingly. The intersection auto brake further enhances safety by intervening to prevent or mitigate collisions at intersections.
A notable feature is the door opening alert, which can warn the driver through visual and audio cues if a door is about to be opened in the path of a passing cyclist. This helps to minimize the risk of so-called “dooring” incidents, which are a common cause of urban cycling accidents.
