Enhanced Performance with 800-Volt Architecture
The 2026 EX90 introduces an 800-volt electric system, a significant upgrade from the previous 400-volt system. This new architecture reduces heat during charging, enabling faster charging speeds and improved energy efficiency. Volvo’s in-house battery management software uses a smart algorithm to optimize charging, delivering up to 250 km of range in just 10 minutes. The system also supports faster acceleration and reduces material use, resulting in lighter batteries and electric motors for better efficiency.

Advanced Safety and Driver Support
The EX90’s upgraded dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computer provides 500 trillion operations per second (TOPS), enabling advanced safety and driver assistance features. New connected safety alerts warn drivers of slippery roads, hazards, and accidents ahead. The Emergency Stop Assist (ESA) feature safely stops the vehicle in its lane if the driver is unresponsive due to sudden illness, automatically activating the e-call system to connect with an emergency call center. This center can communicate with occupants and contact emergency services if necessary.
Additional features include automatic emergency steering that now functions in darkness and Park Pilot assist for seamless parallel parking. These advancements reflect Volvo’s focus on leveraging AI, data, and software to enhance safety and performance.
Upgrades for Existing Owners
Volvo is ensuring that 2025 EX90 owners benefit from these advancements by offering a one-time free core computer upgrade through a scheduled visit to a Volvo workshop. This upgrade enables access to the same advanced safety and infotainment features as the 2026 model, delivered seamlessly via over-the-air updates.
Innovative Design Features
The 2026 EX90 introduces an electrochromic panoramic roof, first seen on the Volvo ES90. This feature allows drivers to adjust the roof’s transparency to reduce glare or enhance privacy with a single button, adding both comfort and convenience.
Volvo’s Commitment to Sustainability
Volvo Cars continues to prioritize sustainability, aiming to become a fully electric car maker and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. The EX90’s efficient 800-volt system and reduced material use align with this ambition, offering a personal, sustainable, and safe driving experience.
Volvo’s Record-Breaking Year
In 2024, Volvo Car Group achieved a record-breaking core operating profit of SEK 27 billion and revenue of SEK 400.2 billion, with global sales reaching 763,389 cars. These milestones highlight Volvo’s strong market position and commitment to innovation.
