XPENG Motors, a leading AI-driven mobility company, has officially launched its global localization strategy by establishing its first overseas production base in Indonesia. The company marked this significant milestone with the delivery of its first locally-produced XPENG X9, an intelligent electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025. This move underscores the company’s accelerated global expansion and commitment to the Southeast Asian market.

A Strategic Move into Southeast Asia
XPENG has identified Indonesia as a market of special strategic significance. By establishing local production capabilities at its Purwakarta factory, the company can better respond to local market needs and provide more tailored intelligent electric mobility solutions for the region. This initiative is a key milestone in XPENG’s global expansion and is expected to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge technologies throughout Southeast Asia.

The Locally-Produced XPENG X9
The first locally-produced XPENG X9 officially rolled off the Indonesian production line on July 1. This intelligent electric MPV combines a spaceship-inspired design with family-focused practicality, a combination that has already attracted over 30,000 families worldwide. Its features, including an ultra-comfortable smart cockpit, a leading intelligent driving system, and standard rear-wheel steering, set a new benchmark for smart mobility and align with the needs of Indonesian families.
To showcase the vehicle’s reliability, three XPENG X9 owners completed a nearly 2,485-mile journey from Guangzhou, China, to Jakarta, Indonesia, marking the first time a Chinese pure electric MPV has crossed Southeast Asia and the equator. The X9’s growing momentum is further proven by its status as Hong Kong’s best-selling MPV in June.
Debut of the Advanced New G6
Alongside the X9 delivery, XPENG debuted its New G6 model at GIIAS. The vehicle is equipped with advanced technology, including an 800V architecture and a 5C ultra-fast charging AI battery, which allows it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset and an NVIDIA Orin-X processor, the New G6 delivers 7.5 times the AI processing power and 3 times the graphics speed of mainstream competitors in Indonesia. These capabilities fuel its immersive digital cockpit and advanced driver-assistance systems, demonstrating XPENG’s leadership in the smart EV sector.
