Yutong Bus has successfully completed a battery endurance and mileage challenge in Australia, showcasing its commitment to promoting the electric transformation of public transport. The Yutong C12E electric bus achieved an impressive 555 kilometers on a single charge, demonstrating the potential of green mobility solutions.

Key Highlights:

  • Yutong C12E bus completed a 285 km roundtrip from Melbourne to Kiama with 50% battery remaining.
  • Power consumption averaged 0.63kWh/km over a variety of road conditions, including city, highway, and mountain roads.
  • Yutong’s YEA technology platform integrates software and hardware to provide economical, durable, and adaptable solutions for electric buses.

The Yutong C12E electric bus, which has been in operation for two and a half years, completed a 285-kilometer round trip from Melbourne’s suburb of Preston to Kiama, using only 50 percent of its battery capacity with a power consumption rate of 0.63kWh/km. The journey included diverse road conditions such as city streets, highways, and mountain roads, highlighting the bus’s adaptability and efficiency.

Kent Chang, CEO of Yutong Asia-Pacific, stated, “In the electrification transformation of public transportation, there are many challenges and bottlenecks including mileage limitation, battery safety, charging efficiency, operation reliability, as well as cost efficiency, that we need to tackle in developing pure electric buses. Yutong is committed to providing green mobility solutions through continuous technological and product innovation with our aspiration of ‘Think Eco, Move Green.'”

The Yutong C12E is equipped with the Yutong Electric Architecture (YEA) technology platform, launched in September for the Asia-Pacific market. YEA is the industry’s first platform specifically designed for electric vehicles, integrating software and hardware to evolve and expand with the needs of the market. It supports the development of various new energy and commercial vehicle products tailored for different travel scenarios, providing customers with more economical, durable, and convenient solutions:

  • More economical: A 10% longer range and a 20% reduction in operating costs compared to other industry competitors.
  • More durable: Ensures 99% uptime and a battery lifespan of up to 1.5 million kilometers.
  • More convenient: Features intelligent management capabilities for reliable, around-the-clock operation.

Alongside the YEA platform’s launch, Yutong Bus organized Green Travel Week in Brisbane, emphasizing the importance of sustainable transportation and community engagement. The event aimed to raise public awareness of green transportation options, such as electric vehicles, and contribute to building a sustainable future. Supported by the Brisbane City Council, this initiative inspired residents to embrace eco-friendly travel choices while highlighting Yutong Bus’s mission to extend the benefits of green transit globally through innovative technology.
