Einride will deploy 500 Tesla Semi trucks on its Saga AI fleet intelligence platform across North America, tripling the size of the Swedish company’s deployed electric truck fleet. The Nasdaq-listed freight technology firm (ENRD) announced the deployment this week, describing it as the largest of its kind to date. Rollout runs in multiple phases over the next 24 months, beginning in September 2026, and is fully financed through third-party financing solutions, according to Einride.
Highlights
- 500 Tesla Semis will operate on Einride’s Saga AI platform, tripling the company’s deployed electric truck fleet
- Deployment spans freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia, serving Amazon and other customers
- Phased rollout begins September 2026 and runs approximately 24 months
- Einride says Saga AI has powered more than 19 million electric miles and 42,000 optimization sessions across seven years of commercial operations
Where the Trucks Will Run
The 500 units will serve Amazon and other Einride customers across North America, extending the company’s electric freight network along corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia. Einride characterizes the deployment as an acceleration of its US expansion and an addition to what it describes as North America’s largest electric freight networks.
“This deployment is yet another proof point that we can execute at the scale our customers demand,” said Roozbeh Charli, Chief Executive Officer, Einride. “Working closely with Tesla to bring next-generation Semis into active operations quickly and at scale is a testament to the strength of that partnership, and how quickly this technology is maturing from promise to daily operations.”
How Does Saga AI Manage an Electric Truck Fleet?
Electric trucks introduce operating variables that diesel fleets do not carry — charging time and energy costs that shift depending on conditions. Einride’s Saga AI platform coordinates individual trucks into a single optimized network, which the company says makes the fleet more efficient, more reliable, and less costly to operate than managing units independently.
The platform is also the mechanism by which Einride sells electric capacity to shippers without requiring them to take on fleet management or the associated capital risk. Einride reports that each additional truck and mile feeds operating data back into the system, so network efficiency compounds rather than remaining static. The company says Saga AI has processed more than 19 million electric miles and 42,000 optimization sessions globally.
Tesla’s Role in the Order
Tesla framed the order as an expansion of an existing relationship with the Swedish operator, and pointed to per-mile cost structure as the commercial case for battery-electric Class 8 tractors.
“Einride is at the forefront of sustainable freight and we are thrilled to deepen our relationship with them through this order of 500 Semis,” said Dan Priestley, Director of Semi, Tesla. “EV heavy trucks provide lower costs per mile from fuel savings, reduced maintenance, and better uptime over diesel trucks. These savings increase further through operational efficiency when deploying EV trucks at scale, and we are excited that Einride recognizes this and look forward to supporting their deployments.”
The order also gives Einride customers earlier access to next-generation, longer-range Tesla Semi units, which Einride says will further improve unit economics.
Converting Contracts Into Revenue
Einride positions the deployment as a step toward converting approximately $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue under joint business plans with shippers into active, revenue-generating freight capacity. The company did not disclose what share of that figure the Tesla Semi deployment is expected to convert, or the value of the truck order itself.
