Zeon Corporation and Sino Applied Technology (SiAT) have launched a strategic partnership to transform the lithium battery industry. Announced in Taoyuan, Taiwan, this collaboration includes Zeon leading a $20 million Series C fundraising round for SiAT. The focus is on expanding production of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) conductive paste, a vital material for next-generation batteries powering electric vehicles (EVs) and other technologies.

Zeon, a leader in specialty elastomers, and SiAT, a Taiwanese expert in nanomaterials, are joining forces to meet the rising demand for lithium-ion batteries. This demand, fueled by EVs, drones, and renewable energy systems, highlights the need for advanced materials like SWCNTs. These nanotubes improve battery performance by offering exceptional conductivity and strength.
The $20 million investment will help SiAT scale its production capacity significantly. By 2030, SiAT targets an annual output of 25,000 tons of SWCNT conductive paste, with Zeon supplying the raw nanotubes using its Super Growth technology. Zeon pioneered mass SWCNT production in 2015, creating ZEONANO®, known for its purity and large surface area.
SiAT’s contribution lies in its ability to disperse SWCNTs evenly, overcoming a key industry hurdle. Since 2024, their joint efforts have produced two conductive pastes—LSC2102 (NMP-based) and LSC1101 (water-based)—enhancing battery energy output and lifespan. These advancements are critical for high-capacity EV batteries.
Beyond batteries, SWCNTs could revolutionize industries like semiconductors and composites. This partnership also emphasizes sustainability, supporting the shift to greener energy solutions. By merging Zeon’s production expertise with SiAT’s dispersion skills, this alliance is set to drive innovation and meet global battery needs.
