Turbo-Hybrid Powertrain Delivers More Power and Efficiency
The Telluride HEV pairs a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 1.65-kWh lithium-ion battery and electric motors. Together, the system produces 329 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft. of torque. That represents a significant upgrade over the previous-generation Telluride, which made 291 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque.
Power routes through a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available across the lineup. Additionally, the hybrid comes standard with electric-Vehicle Motion Control (e-VMC), a system designed to improve handling and stability by coordinating brake and motor inputs.
Eric Watson, VP of Sales at Kia America, said the Telluride HEV delivers what today’s SUV buyers expect. He noted the vehicle combines Kia’s latest technology with seven-passenger capability and strong fuel economy in the three-row segment.
