Škoda Epiq Production Begins at Spain’s Navarra Plant

Series production of the Škoda Epiq, the brand's most affordable electric model, has begun at Volkswagen's Navarra plant in Pamplona — the first Škoda ever built in Spain.

Series production of the Škoda Epiq, the brand’s most affordable electric model at around €26,000 (about $30,000), has begun at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Pamplona — the first Škoda ever built in Spain. The Škoda Epiq is the first car the company has built on Volkswagen Group’s new MEB+ platform and the first to fully adopt its Modern Solid design language. It joins the current Superb as only the second model in Škoda’s European lineup produced outside the automaker’s Czech plants.

Highlights

  • Most affordable Škoda EV: the Epiq enters the lineup at around €26,000 (about $30,000), Škoda’s lowest-priced battery-electric model.
  • Powertrain range: three power variants from 85 kW (114 hp) to 155 kW (208 hp), with two gross battery capacities of 38.5 kWh and 55 kWh and a range of up to around 440 km (roughly 273 miles).
  • Charging and efficiency: DC charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes, a drag coefficient of 0.275, and 475 liters of luggage space.
  • Plant scale: the Navarra site builds more than 1,400 vehicles a day with nearly 5,000 employees and has produced over 10 million vehicles since 1984.

A First for Škoda in Spain

The Epiq is the first Škoda model produced in Spain and the second in the brand’s current European portfolio built outside its Czech plants. Producing it at Navarra lets Škoda Auto keep capacity at its own sites free for other high-demand models while adding flexibility to respond to shifts across vehicle segments.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, said: “Launching production of the new Škoda Epiq is a historic moment. With the momentum of Brand Group Core behind it, we’re making fully electric driving more reachable than ever – great value for money, designed for real life, and ready to welcome new customers, including those who want something a step above. Over the past years, Enyaq and Elroq have reached record sales across Europe – proof that progress can be both inspiring and accessible.”

The Epiq made its public debut in May in Zurich, Switzerland. Alongside the upcoming Peaq, it is set to play a central role in doubling Škoda’s all-electric model range this year.

Part of Volkswagen’s Electric Urban Car Family

The Epiq belongs to the Electric Urban Car Family within Volkswagen’s Brand Group Core (BGC). Together with the CUPRA Raval, Volkswagen ID. Polo and Volkswagen ID. Cross, it forms part of a cross-brand campaign targeting the electric entry-level segment, with all four models built at plants in Spain.

According to the company, producing the Epiq in Spain draws on BGC synergies to offer European customers electric vehicles competitive on both technology and price, while preserving capacity at Škoda’s own plants for other models.

Škoda Epiq Production Begins at Spain's Navarra Plant

Inside the Volkswagen Navarra Plant

The Volkswagen Navarra plant, on the outskirts of Pamplona in northern Spain, is one of the Group’s key production sites. Founded in 1965, it has built more than ten million vehicles since joining the Volkswagen Group in 1984. Until now it produced combustion-engine Volkswagen models, the Taigo and T-Cross.

The plant’s program is now expanding to include the all-electric Epiq, with the Volkswagen ID. Cross soon to follow. Like Škoda Auto’s plant in Mladá Boleslav, the Navarra site runs combustion-engine and all-electric vehicles on the same line.

Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, said: “The Epiq is the first Škoda model ever to be produced in Spain. This step highlights the strength and adaptability of our production network. By efficiently balancing capacity across the Volkswagen Group, we can support the ramp-up of key electric models while maintaining high production quality and competitive costs – all of which directly benefit our customers.”
