Toyota says the battery electric SUV is expected to begin arriving at dealerships in September, returning for its fifth year in XLE and Limited grades with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. Manufacturer-estimated range spans 236 to 314 miles depending on grade and battery, and Toyota equips every bZ with a North American Charging System port as standard.

What Carries Over for 2027?
Toyota describes the 2027 bZ as unchanged from the 2026 model year, which brought the larger battery option, the NACS port and the current exterior treatment. The company positions the model as one of three battery electric vehicles in a North American lineup that also includes 15 hybrid and two plug-in hybrid models.
Exterior features include a hammerhead hood, a standard LED light bar, a color-keyed front center bumper, a thin lower grille and a standard rear spoiler. Color-matched overfenders and two-tone roof treatments are available, and privacy glass is fitted to the rear side, quarter and liftgate windows.
Range and Battery Options
Toyota lists five range figures across the grade walk, all manufacturer-estimated rather than EPA-rated. The 74.7-kWh pack is used on the XLE AWD, XLE FWD Plus, Limited FWD and Limited AWD, while the XLE FWD uses the smaller 57.7-kWh unit.

Charging and NACS Compatibility
The standard NACS port gives the bZ direct access to most high-speed chargers in the United States, and the company says DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under ideal conditions. Battery preconditioning is included to support high-speed charging across varying conditions, building on the charging expansion Toyota introduced for the 2026 bZ.
Plug & Charge capability streamlines sessions at supported networks. The bZ also accepts Level 1 and Level 2 power sources, ships with a dual-voltage charging cable, and includes a standard adapter kit for SAE J1772 and Combined Charging System stations.
Powertrain and Chassis
Toyota’s eAxles use silicon carbide semiconductors, and output splits three ways: 165 total system horsepower on the XLE FWD, 221 on the XLE FWD Plus and Limited FWD, and up to 338 on all-wheel-drive models. The BEV-dedicated e-TNGA platform places the battery pack flat under the floor, and Toyota says the combination of battery cross-framing, lightweight body construction and dynamic suspension is intended to improve ride quality, stability and handling precision.
Driving features include steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for regenerative braking adjustment, X-MODE and Grip-Control on AWD models, intelligent throttle tuning and Vehicle Stability Control.
Interior, Technology and Connectivity
A 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen is standard, developed by the Texas-based Toyota Connected North America team, with six speakers and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A nine-speaker JBL system with subwoofer and amplifier is optional on Limited grades.
Standard equipment includes dual Qi wireless charging, ambient lighting with 64 color options, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, multiple USB-C ports, a 120V/1500W AC outlet in the rear cargo area and a 7-inch customizable LCD instrument display. Limited grades add heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, front radiant foot-and-leg heaters, 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic fixed-glass moonroof and a digital rearview mirror.
Passenger and cargo measurements include 42.1 inches of front legroom, 35.3 inches of rear legroom, 27.7 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row and 56.9 cubic feet with the second row folded, both without the subwoofer. The bZ includes five-year trials for Safety Connect, Service Connect and Remote Connect plus a 30-day/3 GB Wi-Fi Connect trial, with additional offerings such as Drive Connect available by grade through Toyota Connected Services. All models are Toyota Digital Key capable.
Safety Content
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup and includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Safe Exit Alert and the Toyota Star Safety System are also standard. Limited grades add Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert and a Panoramic View Monitor with Perimeter Scan.
Warranty Coverage
Toyota’s 36-month/36,000-mile basic new-vehicle warranty applies to all components other than normal wear and maintenance items. Powertrain coverage runs 60 months/60,000 miles, corrosion coverage runs 60 months with no mileage limit, and Electric Vehicle Driving Components including the traction battery are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. ToyotaCare covers factory-scheduled maintenance for one year or 10,000 miles and includes three years of roadside assistance regardless of mileage.
