ADS-TEC Energy, a prominent global entity in battery-based energy storage and ultra-fast charging systems, has officially become a member of the Alabama Mobility and Power (AMP) Consortium. Brad Whisenant, consortium development manager at the AMP Center, welcomed ADS-TEC Energy, stating, “Their expertise in ultra-fast charging and energy storage technologies adds a critical dimension to our work advancing the EV infrastructure of tomorrow.” He emphasized that the partnership reinforces a shared commitment to innovation and positions Alabama as a leader in battery and charging technology.
ADS-TEC Energy’s American headquarters for its battery-based, ultra-fast EV charging systems is situated in Auburn, Alabama. The company plans to expand its presence there in 2025 to cater to rising U.S. demand and support its growing installation base. Through its collaboration with the AMP Center, ADS-TEC Energy will leverage the facility for product testing and validation. Furthermore, it will work alongside other consortium members to encourage EV adoption and refine advanced charging techniques throughout Alabama and the wider United States.
Jason Powers, Vice President, North America, for ADS-TEC Energy, remarked on the significance of joining the consortium. He stated, “Alabama is a major player in creating modern mobility and power technologies, developing charging infrastructure and managing power delivery to support large-scale growth in electric vehicles, and the AMP Center is the central hub for much of this innovation.” Powers added that ADS-TEC Energy looks forward to contributing its specialized knowledge in storage systems and advanced charging technologies.
With over a decade of experience in lithium-ion technologies, ADS-TEC Energy develops and manufactures battery storage solutions and fast charging systems, including sophisticated energy management systems. Their battery-based fast-charging technology is particularly noted for enabling ultra-fast EV charging even on weak power grids, all within a very compact design. The company, headquartered in Nürtingen, Germany, has received accolades such as a nomination for the German Future Prize.
