Suzuki Partners With Ohme for Irish EV Charging

Suzuki has partnered with Cork-based Ohme to provide exclusive home EV charging for Irish e Vitara buyers, offering dynamic smart charging at off-peak rates.

Suzuki has selected Cork-based Ohme as its exclusive home EV charging partner in Ireland. The partnership launches alongside the arrival of the e Vitara, Suzuki’s first battery-electric vehicle, at Irish dealerships. Retail customers will receive a free Ohme home charger for a limited time.

Highlights

  • Suzuki names Ohme its exclusive home EV charging partner in Ireland, extending a similar arrangement already in place in the UK.
  • The e Vitara marks Suzuki’s first fully electric vehicle, offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery options and a warranty of up to 10 years or 160,000 km.
  • Ohme chargers use dynamic charging technology that automatically adjusts to access the lowest-cost, off-peak energy tariffs available in Ireland.
  • A full charge of the 61kWh e Vitara could cost less than €6 on a smart EV tariff, based on its 426 km WLTP range.

Partnership Details

Ohme chargers will be available on display at Suzuki dealerships across Ireland. Ohme will handle the full installation process and provide dealer training and ongoing support.

David Kateley, Director of Automobile at Suzuki GB and Republic of Ireland, said the partnership would play a key role in the e Vitara’s Irish launch. “Ohme’s technology will help to lower running costs for owners, while their commitment to customer service makes them an ideal match for us improving the ownership experience of the e Vitara still further,” he said.

Ohme CEO David Watson called the e Vitara a strong option for buyers seeking to combine 4×4 capability with electric driving. “We’re looking forward to introducing Suzuki’s customers to the benefits of dynamic charging and supporting its dealer network,” Watson said.

e Vitara Specs and Charging Economics

The e Vitara will be available with two battery configurations: 49kWh and 61kWh. Both options include a warranty of up to 10 years or 160,000 km, with battery coverage included.

Ohme’s dynamic chargers are compatible with Ireland’s smartest EV energy tariffs. The system automatically shifts charging to off-peak windows and integrates a solar boost function to reduce grid reliance.

On a tariff such as Energia EV Smart Drive (9.42c/kWh), a full charge of the 61kWh model costs less than €6. That equates to a WLTP range of 426 km per charge.

Ohme’s Market Position

Ohme, founded in 2017, describes itself as the largest home EV charging platform in both Ireland and the UK. The company is expanding across Europe and offers dynamic smart charging solutions for consumers, businesses, and fleets.
