Octillion Power Systems has reached a production milestone at its India operations, manufacturing its 100,000th electric vehicle battery system. The California-headquartered Tier 1 supplier built the landmark unit at its Pune Two facility for an Indian automaker’s all-electric passenger SUV.
Highlights
- Octillion’s India division produced its 100,000th EV battery system across three facilities in Pune and Gujarat.
- The company has grown from a single Pune plant serving electric buses in 2017 to over 300,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
- Annual energy production capacity is expected to reach 8 GWh in 2026, covering passenger cars, trucks, buses, and two- and three-wheelers.
- A third major facility in Halol, Gujarat, is under build-out to support continued expansion.
From Buses to Battery Scale
Octillion established its India operations in 2017 with a single Pune facility producing battery systems for electric buses. The company, founded in 2009, has since expanded to three manufacturing sites. It now describes itself as India’s largest EV battery system manufacturer.
Globally, the company operates nine manufacturing facilities across the United States, India, and China. In 2024, Octillion reported delivering 16.55 GWh of energy and more than 2.5 million EV batteries worldwide. Vehicles using its systems have logged over 39 billion kilometers.
India Capacity Growth
The 8 GWh of annual production capacity expected in 2026 will serve multiple vehicle segments. These include passenger cars, commercial trucks, buses, and two- and three-wheeled EVs.
Paul Beach, Global President of Octillion, said the milestone reflects client confidence in the company’s ability to deliver safe and durable batteries at scale. He added that Octillion is focused on product innovation, market growth, and supply chain resilience in India.
Nikhil Parchure, Senior Vice President at Octillion, said the achievement demonstrates the India team’s commitment to enabling cleaner transportation. “We deeply appreciate our customers’ trust, and we take pride in knowing that vehicles powered by Octillion batteries reflect the ingenuity and excellence of India,” Parchure said.
