Mercedes-AMG is offering a glimpse into the future of electric performance with the unveiling of the CONCEPT AMG GT XX. This pioneering technology program showcases a forthcoming four-door series-production sports car built on the high-performance AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA). The concept car introduces a revolutionary drive system, groundbreaking battery technology, and a host of innovations that signal a new era for the brand.
Key Highlights
- Revolutionary Power: The vehicle is powered by three innovative axial flux motors that deliver a peak output of more than 1,341 hp.
- Hyper-Fast Charging: A newly developed high-voltage battery allows the car to gain approximately 400 km (WLTP) of range in about five minutes.
- Advanced Battery Technology: The high-performance battery features direct-cooled cylindrical cells for remarkable and sustained performance.
- Superior Aerodynamics: The concept boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.198, achieved through intelligent design and active aerodynamic elements.
- Sustainable Innovation: The interior utilizes innovative, biotechnology-based materials, including a leather alternative derived from recycled racing tires.

A New Era of Electric Power
At the core of the CONCEPT AMG GT XX is a revolutionary drivetrain featuring three high-performance axial flux motors, developed in collaboration with British specialist YASA. These motors are significantly more compact, lighter, and more power-dense than conventional radial flux motors. Two motors are located at the rear axle and one at the front, creating the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive system for exceptional traction and stability. This powerful configuration enables a total system output of over 1,341 hp and a top speed of more than 223 mph.
The vehicle’s performance is supported by a completely new High Performance Electric Battery inspired by Formula 1 technology. The battery’s innovative design includes tall, slim cylindrical cells with direct oil cooling, ensuring each of the more than 3,000 cells remains at an optimal temperature even under intense driving conditions. This allows for repeatable performance and unprecedentedly fast charging. The system can achieve an average charging power of more than 850 kW, making it possible to immediately deliver full output after a quick charge.

Aerodynamic and Design Excellence
The exterior design of the CONCEPT AMG GT XX is a statement of performance, featuring a dynamic fastback silhouette, a low-slung hood, and an eye-catching sunset beam orange paint color. Every element is optimized for aerodynamic efficiency, from the active air control system in the front to the wide rear diffuser. A patented world-first is the active Aero Wheel, which features movable blades that close to reduce drag or open to cool the brakes as needed. These refinements contribute to the vehicle’s extremely low drag coefficient of 0.198, enhancing both high-speed performance and range.

A High-Tech, Sustainable Cockpit
The interior is a fusion of motorsport inspiration and luxury, reduced to the essentials for a purist driving experience. The cockpit is focused around the driver, with two large LCD screens and a rectangular steering wheel similar to the one in the AMG ONE. A standout feature is the use of innovative and sustainable materials. The seat pads are covered in LABFIBER Biotech Leather Alternative, a material developed with Modern Meadow that uses recycled rubber from GT3 racing tires. This commitment to innovation extends to the 3D-printed seat pads, which offer customized ergonomics for the driver.
