AVILOO, a global leader in independent battery testing for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, has announced a significant update to its battery diagnostic services. Starting June 23rd, the company will offer an enhanced and more comprehensive battery certificate for used EVs, aiming to bring greater transparency, safety, and clarity to the market. This update introduces the AVILOO PREVIEW, a user-friendly format that presents detailed results from the improved FLASH Test.
Key Highlights
- New Certificate Launch: A more comprehensive and precise battery certificate will be available starting June 23rd.
- AVILOO CERTIFIED Seal: A new seal of quality, the AVILOO CERTIFIED seal, will be included on certificates for batteries without defects, signaling a trustworthy used EV purchase.
- Enhanced Precision: Improved algorithms and an expanding database provide a more accurate State of Health (SoH) assessment.
- New Features: The certificate now includes benchmarking against similar vehicles, a heatmap for cell-level transparency, and actual range insights.
- User-Friendly Format: Results are presented in the new AVILOO PREVIEW, a compact, easy-to-understand summary.
- Market Benefits: Independent battery certificates have been shown to increase profits for dealers and build trust with consumers.

A New Standard in EV Diagnostics
The updated battery certificate is based on a major enhancement of the FLASH Test, which now delivers more powerful and precise diagnostics. Despite the increased detail, the process remains remarkably fast, providing a full certificate via email within three minutes of connecting the AVILOO test box. This improved service comes at no extra cost to FLASH Test customers and will be automatically activated for all license holders, including car dealers, fleet operators, and leasing companies.
Enhanced Certificate Features
The relaunched certificate introduces several new features designed to provide a complete picture of battery health.
- AVILOO CERTIFIED Seal: The new AVILOO CERTIFIED seal acts as a mark of trust and quality. It is awarded when no defects or anomalies are detected, offering assurance and security to buyers in the used EV market.
- Improved SoH Accuracy: Leveraging a database that has grown exponentially since 2019, AVILOO has enhanced its data quality and algorithms. This results in a more precise State of Health (SoH) calculation, reinforcing its role as an industry standard and helping customers avoid defective vehicles by flagging potential issues.
- Comprehensive Benchmarking: For the first time, the certificate will show how a vehicle’s battery compares to others of a similar model, battery size, mileage, and age. This analysis is powered by AVILOO’s world-leading database, which contains hundreds of thousands of test results.
- Cell-Level Heatmap: A new heatmap feature offers unprecedented transparency at the cell level. It graphically displays the location and severity of any potential defects, with clear interpretations that are easy for non-experts to understand.
- Actionable Range Insights: The certificate now provides the vehicle’s actual achievable range. It also compares this figure to the official WLTP value and the typical range of similar vehicles found in the AVILOO database.
Benefits for the Used EV Market
The introduction of these new features is designed to create a “win-win situation” for all market participants. The AVILOO PREVIEW offers a compact, visual summary of the key test results, which can be easily uploaded to sales platforms. This enhances transparency by confirming the battery has undergone a technical inspection.
According to CEO Marcus Berger, AVILOO’s independent analysis provides a level of detail that a standard SoH readout from the vehicle cannot match. “An international study from 2024 demonstrates that the use of independent, recognized battery certificates leads to profit increases for dealers of at least €550 to €1,100,” he stated. By providing trusted, third-party verification, sellers can build greater trust with buyers, who in turn feel more confident purchasing a used EV.
AVILOO is a leader in battery diagnostics, offering TÜV and CARA certified tests that cover 95% of all available EV brands.
