Francesco Bagnaia, Ducati’s celebrated two-time MotoGP World Champion, recently experienced the formidable power of the new Lamborghini Temerario. The professional racer took the High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) for a track test, offering his initial impressions of the V8 hybrid supercar.

Key Highlights:

  • Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, a three-time World Champion, test-drove the new Lamborghini Temerario.
  • The Temerario features a new twin-turbo V8 engine combined with three electric motors, producing 920 CV.
  • It boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.7 seconds.
  • The V8 engine is capable of an astounding 10,000 rpm.
  • Bagnaia praised the car’s power delivery, drivability, and the sensation of its high-revving engine.

With an illustrious career in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, highlighted by three World Championships, including the 2022 and 2023 MotoGP titles, 40 wins, and 78 podium finishes, Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia is a prominent figure in motorsport. The Italian rider, known for the number 63 on his Ducati Desmosedici GP, shares a numerical connection with Automobili Lamborghini, which was founded in 1963. As an enthusiast of the super sports cars from Sant’Agata Bolognese, Bagnaia embraced the opportunity to be among the first to pilot the new Temerario.

The Lamborghini Temerario is a significant step for the Italian marque, introduced as a High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV). It is powered by an innovative twin-turbo Lamborghini V8 engine that, in conjunction with three electric motors, delivers a total output of 920 CV. This advanced powertrain enables the Temerario to achieve remarkable performance figures: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (approximately 0-62 mph) takes a mere 2.7 seconds, and it can surge from 0 to 200 km/h (approximately 0-124 mph) in just 7.1 seconds. The vehicle is reported to reach a top speed of 343 km/h (around 213 mph).

During his track test, Bagnaia was particularly impressed by the engine’s characteristics. “Reaching 10,000 rpm is incredible,” he stated. “I’d never felt anything like it. Rather than a turbo, it almost feels like it has a naturally aspirated engine with an enhanced intake.” He further commented on the vehicle’s overall dynamics, noting, “I was astounded not only by that but also by how easy it is to drive. It makes for a stunning combination.”

The Temerario represents Lamborghini’s ongoing commitment to blending high-performance internal combustion engines with cutting-edge hybrid technology. It is important to note that, as of this report, the vehicle is not yet offered for sale and is therefore not subject to Directive 1999/94/EC. The fuel consumption and emissions data are currently in the type approval stage. Bagnaia’s positive feedback provides an exciting glimpse into the capabilities of this upcoming Lamborghini model.
