Nissan fully revealed the SUV this week with a three-grade lineup of SV, SR, and Platinum, all with standard dual-motor all-wheel drive. The model uses Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid technology, in which a gasoline engine charges a battery that powers dual electric motors. The company estimates fuel economy at 40 mpg city, based on its internal testing.

How Does Nissan e-POWER Work?
The e-POWER system drives the wheels with electric motors only. The gasoline engine charges the battery that feeds those motors, so the vehicle never needs to be plugged in. Nissan says the layout delivers smoother, quieter, and more responsive acceleration. The EV Report covered the series hybrid e-POWER system when Nissan first previewed the model.
Nissan calls the powertrain a segment first. The claim rests on AutoPacific segmentation and compares the Rogue Hybrid with current competitors in the mainstream midsize SUV class, based on manufacturers’ websites. The company also points to three generations of development and nearly 2 million global sales of e-POWER models.
Dual-motor all-wheel drive is standard on every grade. The Nissan-estimated 40 mpg city comes from the company’s internal testing.
e-Pedal and Driver Assistance
The Rogue Hybrid includes e-Pedal with Smooth Stop technology, which Nissan describes as true one-pedal driving. The company says the feature is exclusive in its class, a comparison that excludes EVs and plug-in hybrids.
Driver assistance features include:
- ProPILOT Assist: An upgraded version of Nissan’s driver assistance system.
- Auto Lane Change: Available.
- Hands-Off Traffic Jam Support: Available.
- Standard safety technologies: Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning and Intervention, Lane Departure Warning, and Intelligent Lane Intervention, among others.
Cabin Technology
A 12.3-inch touchscreen and Qi2 wireless charging are standard. Nissan says Qi2 charging is exclusive in the class. A 14.3-inch display with Google built-in and Google Gemini is optional on the SR and standard on the Platinum.
Design and Interior
Nissan describes the exterior as a modern design with refined proportions and new Japanese-inspired details. Interior changes include physical controls, wider access points, and integrated digital displays.
Two features target family use:
- Rear doors that open nearly 90 degrees for easier loading.
- Five LATCH anchors that allow a child seat in the center position.
Where the Rogue Hybrid Fits in Nissan’s U.S. Strategy
Nissan ties the launch to Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life, the long-term vision it announced in April 2026. The plan names the United States as one of three lead markets. Nissan calls the Rogue one of its Core vehicles in its largest market and its best-selling SUV in the U.S.
“Hybrids are increasingly becoming the powertrain of choice for U.S. customers, and we believe that trend will only accelerate,” said Christian Meunier, chairman, Nissan Americas. “The launch of Rogue Hybrid marks a pivotal moment for Nissan, helping us attract new customers and strengthen our business. We are bringing the best hybrid technology to market that combines exceptional efficiency with a truly engaging driving experience. The result is smooth, responsive performance, immediate torque delivery, and one of the quietest cabins in its class.”
