XCMG has launched the Hanjing, a new energy heavy truck for long-haul freight built on an 800-volt architecture that the company says takes the battery from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes. XCMG, a construction machinery manufacturer, unveiled the truck recently at a launch event in Xuzhou, China. According to the company, development began in 2023, when its engineers visited major freight hubs and worked with large logistics companies to identify requirements for range, charging, efficiency, and reliability.
Highlights
- Charging: 800-volt architecture supports megawatt-class fast charging, with a 20% to 80% charge in under 20 minutes, according to XCMG.
- Endurance test: The truck covered 1,366 miles (2,198 km) in a 24-hour test at a fully loaded gross vehicle weight of 49 tons, the company reports.
- Body structure: The Hanjing uses 1,500-MPa hot-stamped steel combined with multiple battery thermal-protection systems.
- Market position: XCMG says it ranked first in China in sales of both new energy heavy trucks and new energy tractors from January through July 2026.
Hanjing Electric Powertrain and Megawatt-Class Charging
XCMG designed the Hanjing for long-haul, cross-regional freight. The company says the truck addresses priorities for logistics operators that include range, charging speed, uptime, and lifecycle operating efficiency.
Engineering work concentrated on the electric powertrain, centralized thermal management, torque distribution, and regenerative braking, according to the company. The Hanjing features a low-drag cab, a proprietary integrated electric drive axle, and intelligent controls designed to reduce energy consumption.
The 800-volt architecture supports megawatt-class fast charging, which XCMG says brings the battery from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes.
Safety and Driver Systems
The Hanjing combines a body constructed with 1,500-MPa hot-stamped steel with multiple battery thermal-protection systems, which XCMG says are intended to enhance vehicle and battery safety.
For drivers on long-haul routes, the truck includes:
- Central domain controller
- Highway navigation-assisted driving
- Digital cockpit
How Was the Hanjing Tested?
Before launch, the Hanjing underwent extreme-heat, extreme-cold, high-altitude, water-fording, and crash testing, according to XCMG.
The truck also completed a 24-hour endurance test at the Yancheng proving ground. The company reports it covered 1,366 miles (2,198 km) at a fully loaded gross vehicle weight of 49 tons.
Charging Infrastructure and Fleet Services
XCMG also provides charging infrastructure, connected fleet management, and lifecycle services. The company describes the combination as an integrated system for managing vehicles, charging, and day-to-day operations.
Its connected-vehicle platform allows fleet operators to monitor vehicle status and energy consumption, and to plan vehicle selection and charging around their routes.
Sales Position and Overseas Markets
From January through July 2026, XCMG ranked first in China in sales of both new energy heavy trucks and new energy tractors, the company reports. It also says it has ranked first nationwide in new energy heavy-truck sales for three consecutive years.
XCMG trucks are also sold in Indonesia, Thailand, Guinea, and other African markets. One major Indonesian mining customer ordered an additional 100 vehicles after purchasing more than 150 of the company’s 600-kWh 8×4 battery new energy dump trucks, according to XCMG.
Ahead of the launch, XCMG showcased new energy commercial vehicles and transportation solutions for construction and logistics at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany. The company says it will continue adapting products to local regulations, road conditions, and operating practices as it expands new energy heavy trucks beyond fixed routes and short-haul operations to a broader range of long-haul applications.
