Bentley Builds EV Logistics Hub

Bentley Motors has started construction on its new Integrated Logistics Centre at its Crewe headquarters in England. This step prepares the luxury car maker for producing electric vehicles, specifically Battery-Powered Electric Vehicles (BEVs), starting in 2027. The centre will boost efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability in Bentley’s operations. It supports the company’s Beyond100+ strategy, aiming for a fully electric lineup by 2035.

Key Highlights

  • Size: The centre covers 11,620 square meters, helping process materials and deliver them to assembly lines.
  • Automation: It features a new automated storage system, a first for the Volkswagen Group, improving stability and part sequencing.
  • Storage Boost: Onsite storage will increase by 35 percent, cutting down on outside warehousing needs.
  • Timeline: Construction finishes in October 2025, with operations starting by mid-2026.

Andreas Lehe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing, said: “Breaking ground on the Integrated Logistics Centre marks a key milestone in Bentley’s journey to full electrification. The centre will transform our logistics operations by enhancing efficiency, managing customer variety, and integrating cutting-edge automation. This investment ensures that Bentley can offer an all-electric portfolio while maintaining the highest standards of quality and sustainability.”

Why It Matters

This new facility is a big deal for Bentley’s future. It’s built to handle the unique needs of electric vehicle production, which differs from traditional gas-powered cars. The advanced kitting and sequencing will let Bentley manage more parts and offer greater customization. This flexibility is key as the company shifts to BEVs.

The centre also cuts environmental impact. By storing more onsite, Bentley reduces transportation and reliance on external warehouses. The automated storage concept ensures parts get to the assembly line smoothly, saving time and reducing waste.

Inside, a three-storey mezzanine will include offices, a canteen, training rooms, and a viewing platform. This setup improves worker comfort and lets visitors see the action. It’s a smart design for a modern workforce.

Looking Ahead

Set to open in mid-2026, the centre aligns with Bentley’s plan to launch its first BEV in 2027. It’s a clear sign of the company’s commitment to electric luxury cars. By 2035, Bentley aims to be fully electric, leading the charge in sustainable high-end mobility.

This project shows Bentley blending innovation with its classic craftsmanship. The Integrated Logistics Centre isn’t just a building—it’s a foundation for the brand’s electric future, keeping quality top-notch while going green.
