2027 Subaru Trailseeker EV Holds $39,995 Starting Price

Subaru's 2027 Trailseeker EV holds its $39,995 starting price, with 375 horsepower, a 4.3-second 0-60 time, and up to 281 miles of range across a three-trim lineup arriving this fall.

Subaru of America confirmed pricing this week for the 2027 Trailseeker, its second all-electric SUV, holding the entry-level MSRP flat at $39,995 versus the outgoing model. The three-trim lineup carries a 375-horsepower dual-motor powertrain that Subaru says launches the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds — the quickest production Subaru model sold in the U.S. — and up to 281 miles of manufacturer-estimated range on the Premium trim. The Trailseeker reaches retailers nationwide later this fall.

Performance and All-Wheel Drive

Standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive uses acceleration sensors at the front and rear of the vehicle to adapt to dynamic loads during accelerating, braking, and cornering, directing power to the wheels for improved traction. Subaru refined the system for the Trailseeker’s electric powertrain, adding a variable torque split for regenerative braking and power distribution front-to-rear and left-to-right.

Off-road hardware includes 8.5 inches of ground clearance and the X-MODE Dual-Mode System with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes, plus Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control.

Battery, Range and Charging

A 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery powers the lineup. The Premium trim carries the highest estimated range at up to 281 miles; Limited and Touring trims are rated at approximately 274 miles. A standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) port gives access to more than 25,000 charging stations across North America, and Subaru says the Trailseeker can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 28 minutes at speeds up to 150 kW on a DC fast charger.

An onboard battery-preconditioning system — activated either by navigating to a charger or manually via the touchscreen — is designed to maintain fast-charging speeds in cold weather, down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit, comparable to performance in normal conditions.

Cargo, Towing and Interior

The Trailseeker offers up to 31.3 cubic feet of rear cargo room, which Subaru describes as enough for four large suitcases and comparable to the 2026 Outback. Standard raised roof rails carry a 700-pound static load rating, and the SUV is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds. Compared with the Subaru Solterra, the Trailseeker is more than 6 inches longer and nearly 1 inch taller, with additional passenger and cargo room.

Inside, a 14-inch touchscreen anchors the cabin, with metallic dash finishes and a center console built around device charging and storage. StarTex-trimmed upholstery is standard across the lineup, with leather available on Touring models.

Standard Safety Technology

EyeSight driver-assist technology is standard across the lineup, including Pre-Collision Braking and Acceleration Suppression, Front and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist (subscription required), Lane Departure Alert and Prevention, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing and Road Sign Assist, and Emergency Steering. All trims also include Blind Spot Monitors, automatic windshield wipers, a rear window wiper, and headlight washers.

Colors and Availability

The 2027 Trailseeker will be offered in six exterior colors: Brilliant Bronze Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Crystal White Pearl, Magnetite Gray Metallic, Sapphire Blue Pearl, and Daybreak Blue Pearl, the last of which adds $395. The 2027 Trailseeker joins the recently priced Uncharted and Solterra in Subaru’s electric lineup, all of which are holding 2026 pricing into the new model year. The Trailseeker is assembled in Japan and arrives at retailers nationwide later this fall.
