In a significant move towards electrification, Bentley Motors has initiated construction of a new Paint Shop at its headquarters in Crewe, England. This development is a critical part of Bentley’s strategy to shift entirely to electric vehicles (EVs) and assert its position as the foremost sustainable luxury automotive brand. The new facility not only underscores Bentley’s dedication to future-ready manufacturing but also highlights its ongoing commitment to the Crewe community where its legacy has thrived for 85 years.

  • New Paint Shop commences at Crewe: Construction has started on a 12,460 sqm. Paint Shop, slated for completion in 2025.
  • Expansion in Paint Choices: The facility will offer customers nearly 100 individual color options, reflecting the bespoke nature of Bentley’s offerings.
  • Sustainable Goals: Bentley aims for carbon neutrality across its operations by 2030 as part of its Beyond100 strategy.
  • Investment in Future Technologies: Over £2.5 billion is being invested in future products and manufacturing capabilities at the Pyms Lane factory.

To commemorate this milestone, key figures such as Andreas Lehe, Board Member for Manufacturing, and Jan-Henrik Lafrentz, Board Member for Finance and IT, conducted the ceremonial groundbreaking. The ceremony marked the beginning of what is envisioned as a transformation into a ‘Dream Factory,’ aligning with advanced digital and flexible manufacturing processes.

Upon completion, the new facility will not only provide a wider array of choices to customers but will also feature a four-story office building, becoming a workplace for over 370 Bentley employees. This substantial expansion is integral to Bentley’s preparations for Battery-Powered Electric Vehicle (BEV) production.

Discussing the project, Andreas Lehe remarked, “Breaking ground on this new state-of-the-art building is a milestone moment and supports our aim for a benchmark position in new innovative technologies, skills and facilities to enable a truly digital, highly-flexible benchmark for luxury car manufacturing.”

He added, “While also modernizing our site, it is a clear demonstration of our ambition and long-term commitment to Crewe as we transform Bentley into the leader of sustainable luxury mobility.”

Bentley’s ambitious Beyond100 strategy envisions a complete reinvention of its product range to support an electrified future and aims for a zero environmental impact in manufacturing, reinforcing its leadership in the luxury car sector with cutting-edge digital solutions.
