- Over 1.5 million of these are fully electric models.
- More than one in four BMW Group vehicles sold in the first half of 2025 was electrified.
- Europe accounts for over 60% of global electrified vehicle deliveries.
- Plug-in hybrid sales saw a significant increase in the first half of 2025 compared to the previous year.
- Customers can choose from more than 15 fully electric models and over ten plug-in hybrids across BMW Group brands.

Sales Milestone and Market Leadership
The handover of a 3 Series plug-in hybrid model from the Munich plant to a customer symbolized this record-breaking achievement. The BMW Group attributes this success to a notable surge in sales of both fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles during the first half of 2025. Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, and Sales, emphasized that electrified vehicles form an essential part of the company’s technology-neutral portfolio. He noted that more than one in four vehicles sold by the group in this period were electrified, underscoring the shift toward sustainable driving solutions.
Europe remains the dominant market for the BMW Group’s electrified offerings, with over 60% of global deliveries occurring on the continent. Here, the share of electrified vehicles in total sales has surpassed 40%. Plug-in hybrids, in particular, have gained traction, experiencing robust growth in popularity and sales figures compared to the prior year. This regional strength reflects the BMW Group’s deep roots in its home market and aligns with broader trends in premium automotive electrification.

Recent Achievements and Product Portfolio
Building on this momentum, the BMW Group previously celebrated the sale of its 1.5 millionth fully electric vehicle, a fully electric MINI Countryman from the Leipzig plant, delivered to a customer in Portugal. If lined up, these 1.5 million electric vehicles would span approximately 6,500 kilometers, equivalent to the distance from Munich to New York City. This visualization illustrates the scale of the company’s electric mobility adoption.
The BMW Group’s corporate strategy emphasizes electric, digital, and circular mobility. Customers benefit from a wide selection, including the revised BMW iX, which boasts a range of over 700 kilometers according to WLTP standards. With foundations laid more than 50 years ago as an e-mobility pioneer, the company continues to innovate across its brands—BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, and BMW Motorrad.
