LG CNS, a prominent Korean AI Transformation (AX) company, has partnered with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to advance sustainable technology and urban mobility at the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT). This collaboration introduces cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) chargers and innovative digital solutions, reinforcing New York City’s position as a leader in the smart city movement. By integrating advanced technologies, LG CNS aims to enhance the city’s infrastructure, energy resilience, and sustainability.

Key Highlights:

  • EV Chargers Installed: State-of-the-art EV chargers are now operational at BAT, available through December 2025, in partnership with Boston-based startup Matcha.
  • Mobile App Development: LG CNS is creating a mobile app to provide real-time EV charging availability and urban mobility data.
  • Energy Storage Systems (ESS): Plans to implement ESS to stabilize NYC’s electricity market and support sustainable energy sources.
  • NYCEDC Pilots Program: LG CNS joins the next cohort of NYCEDC’s Pilots at BAT, with expansion to MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park.
  • Memorandum of Understanding: Signed in October 2023 with Mayor Adams, fostering Korean investments in NYC.

The installation of EV chargers at BAT is a significant step in LG CNS’s broader vision to support New York City’s green energy and digital transformation goals. The company’s forthcoming mobile app will empower residents and visitors with real-time information, improving the accessibility and efficiency of EV usage. Additionally, LG CNS’s commitment to deploying ESS will enhance the city’s energy grid stability, promoting a transition to cleaner power sources.

Beyond EV infrastructure, LG CNS is exploring innovations in artificial intelligence, smart surveillance, and data-driven urban solutions to position New York City as a national IT leader. The partnership with NYCEDC, including participation in the Pilots program, allows LG CNS to test and scale these technologies in real-world settings. The expansion of the Pilots program to MADE Bush Terminal, a 200-acre waterfront hub in Sunset Park, further supports emerging climate solutions in mobility, resiliency, and sustainable buildings.

This collaboration, solidified by a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding between Mayor Adams and LG CNS CEO Shin-Gyoon Hyun, underscores significant Korean investment in New York City’s future. With NYCEDC’s guidance, LG CNS successfully navigated the city’s ecosystem to implement these initiatives, marking a pivotal step toward a smarter, more sustainable urban landscape.

LG CNS’s expertise in AI, cloud computing, and smart engineering positions it as a key player in New York City’s modernization. As the company continues to innovate, its efforts are set to improve citywide efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability, paving the way for a greener, tech-driven future.
