BYD Passes 100,000 UK Sales in Three Years

BYD has surpassed 100,000 new car registrations in the UK since launching in March 2023, with 37,995 of those vehicles registered in the first half of 2026 alone.

BYD has passed 100,000 new car registrations in the United Kingdom, a total built from a standing start in March 2023. More than a third of that volume — 37,995 vehicles — was registered in the first half of 2026 alone. BYD, which describes itself as the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles spanning both fully electric and plug-in hybrid models, entered the UK with a single car and now fields ten.

Highlights

  • More than 100,000 new car registrations in the UK since sales commenced in March 2023
  • 37,995 of those vehicles registered in the first half of 2026
  • UK lineup expanded from one model to ten, covering battery-electric and DM-i plug-in hybrid powertrains
  • Retail network grown from five launch sites to 143 locations nationwide

From One Model to Ten

BYD’s UK sales began with the ATTO 3 in March 2023. The range now runs from the DOLPHIN SURF compact hatchback to the 523-horsepower (530PS) SEALION 7 SUV-coupé.

Plug-in hybrid volume has broadened the lineup considerably. The SEAL U DM-i was the first DM model to reach the market, followed more recently by the ATTO 2 DM-i, the SEAL 6 DM-i in Saloon and Touring forms — sedan and wagon in American terms — and the SEALION 5 DM-i. On the battery-electric side, the ATTO 3 EVO, a significant overhaul of the original ATTO 3, joined the range in 2026.

Retail Network Reaches 143 Sites

The commercial buildout has tracked the product expansion. BYD launched in the UK with five retailers and now operates a retail network of 143 sites across the country.

What Is BYD Bringing to the UK Next?

Three additional models are in the pipeline: the DOLPHIN G DM-i subcompact, the Ti 7 seven-seat SUV, and the SHARK pickup.

Bono Ge, Country Manager for BYD UK, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the 100,000 BYD owners who have placed their trust in us—and to the 100,000 families behind them who have welcomed BYD into their lives.

“We remain committed to delivering the very best ownership experience, supported by our nationwide network of 143 retail locations.

“At the same time, we’re excited to bring even more innovative products to the UK, including the BYD DOLPHIN G, SHARK and Ti 7, as well as the DENZA models like Z, D9, BAO 5 and Z9 GT. We’re also introducing exciting new technologies, including our groundbreaking FLASH Charging technology, to make electric mobility even more convenient for our customers.”
