BYD has launched a groundbreaking all-terrain circuit in Zhengzhou, China, designed exclusively for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). This pioneering facility, one of the first of its kind in the country, embodies BYD’s “Technology for All” vision. It serves as a hub for track racing, professional racer training, and diverse driving experiences, fostering a vibrant NEV culture. With plans for additional circuits in Hefei and Shaoxing, BYD is redefining automotive experiences and promoting sustainable mobility.
Key Highlights
- Zhengzhou Circuit: China’s first NEV-dedicated all-terrain track with eight unique experience zones.
- Guinness World Record: Features the largest and highest indoor sand dune for vehicle testing.
- YANGWANG U8 Showcase: Demonstrates advanced water-crossing capabilities via the e4 platform.
- Safety and Technology: Includes zones like the Kick Plate and Low Friction Circle to highlight NEV safety features.
- Future Expansions: New circuits planned for Hefei and Shaoxing, with Shaoxing’s off-road area spanning 2,000 acres.
- New Track Scheme: Partnership with CAMF to engage 1 million users and train 100 professional racers.

Unique All-Terrain Experience
Unlike traditional single-track designs, the Zhengzhou All-Terrain Circuit offers a multifaceted experience. Spanning eight zones—Indoor Sand Dune, Low-Friction Ring, Kick-Plate, Wading Pool, Dynamic Paddock, Race Track, Off-Road Park, and Camping Area—it integrates diverse driving scenarios. Visitors can tackle water crossings, dune climbing, and off-roading in one location, making it a one-stop destination for NEV enthusiasts.
The Indoor Sand Dune, certified by Guinness World Records, boasts a 29.6-meter vertical drop and a 28-degree slope. Built with 6,200 tons of sand mimicking the Alxa Desert, it offers an authentic dune-bashing experience. The 70-meter-long Wading Pool showcases the YANGWANG U8’s ability to maneuver effortlessly in water, observed through underwater glass, highlighting the e4 platform’s safety standards in extreme conditions.
Advanced Safety and Drifting Features
The circuit emphasizes NEV safety and performance. The Kick Plate simulates icy roads with a wet, polished cement surface and movable suction plates, allowing drivers to experience controlled emergency scenarios. The Low Friction Circle, a 44-meter-diameter track made of 30,000 smooth basalt bricks and a 3 mm water layer, replicates ice-like conditions. With BYD’s millisecond-level electronic control and intelligent body systems, drivers can enjoy stable drifting, making this thrilling feature accessible to all.

Race Track and Off-Road Adventures
The 1,758-meter Race Track features nine curves and a 550-meter straightaway, ideal for testing acceleration and steering precision. The 15,300-square-meter Dynamic Paddock includes over a dozen scenarios, such as slalom, moose testing, and automated parking, showcasing BYD’s intelligent technologies. The Off-Road Park offers 27 scenarios for all skill levels, enabling even urban SUVs to navigate beginner terrains with intelligent all-wheel drive.
Expanding NEV Culture
BYD’s commitment extends beyond Zhengzhou, with upcoming circuits in Hefei and Shaoxing. The Shaoxing facility, covering 2,000 acres at a 500-meter altitude, promises an expansive off-road experience. In collaboration with the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF), BYD launched the New Track Scheme, aiming to engage 1 million users and train 100 professional racers, revolutionizing China’s NEV racing scene.
A Vision for the Future
The Zhengzhou circuit is more than a venue; it’s a testament to BYD’s mission to make cutting-edge NEV technologies accessible. By combining professional facilities with extreme driving scenarios, BYD is breaking barriers and popularizing NEV culture.
