ChangAn Automobile, a leader in intelligent low-carbon mobility, has begun production at its first international new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing base in Rayong, Thailand. This milestone, part of the company’s Vast Ocean Plan, shifts ChangAn’s focus from exporting vehicles to building entire industrial ecosystems abroad. The Rayong facility integrates advanced manufacturing, research and development, and sustainable supply chains, creating a model for green, smart, and scalable global operations.
Key Highlights:
- First International NEV Base: Rayong marks ChangAn’s debut in overseas NEV production, emphasizing sustainable manufacturing.
- Vast Ocean Plan: Targets five major markets—Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa, Central and South America, Europe, and Eurasia—for global expansion.
- Green Technology: Features energy-saving systems like photovoltaic power and water recycling, cutting per-vehicle energy use by 20%.
- Production Capacity: Plans to double output from 100,000 to 200,000 units annually by 2027.
- Local Impact: Since 2023, ChangAn’s Thai sales have surpassed 14,000 units, ranking among Thailand’s top four NEV brands.

The Rayong factory, spanning 392,000 square meters, includes five workshops for welding, painting, assembly, engine, and battery production. Its eco-friendly design uses daylight optimization, solar energy, and water recycling to enhance efficiency. Advanced automation and adaptive systems ensure high-quality production tailored to global markets. The facility will produce vehicles under ChangAn’s CHANG-AN, DEEPAL, and AVATR brands, with the DEEPAL S05, ChangAn’s 28.59 millionth vehicle, marking a key milestone.
ChangAn’s global strategy aligns with industry trends toward sustainability and localization. Since launching in Thailand in 2023, the company has introduced seven models, including the DEEPAL S07 and AVATR 11, achieving strong market performance. The Rayong plant leverages ChangAn’s 41 years of expertise, applying lean manufacturing and standardized systems like CPS and CA-PLS to ensure rapid, high-quality production. It also fosters local talent and innovation through the CAPDS system, enhancing regional product development.
Chairman Zhu Huarong emphasized the factory’s role in building local ecosystems despite global challenges. By blending Chinese expertise with Thai collaboration, ChangAn aims to drive economic growth and advance the global auto industry, positioning Rayong as a blueprint for future international hubs.
