Powertrain and Charging

The EV2 rides on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor in all variants. The standard-range 42.2kWh battery produces 144 bhp (107.5kW) and accelerates from 0–62 mph in 8.7 seconds. It is offered exclusively on the ‘First Edition’ trim.

The long-range 61.0kWh pack pairs with a slightly detuned motor producing 133 bhp (99.5kW), achieving 0–62 mph in 9.5 seconds. All variants deliver 250Nm of torque and reach a top speed of 100 mph. Long-range variants are still awaiting final WLTP homologation.

Kia has integrated 400V charging architecture, consistent with the EV3, EV4, and EV5. The standard-range model charges from 10–80% in 29 minutes on a 150kW DC fast charger, while the long-range takes 30 minutes. On an 11kW AC charger, full 10–100% charging requires 5 hours 20 minutes for standard-range and 7 hours 15 minutes for long-range.

Design and Dimensions

The EV2 measures 4,060mm long, 1,800mm wide, and 1,575mm tall in ‘Air’ and ‘First Edition’ trims. ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ variants are marginally larger at 4,065mm long and 1,585mm tall. A 2,565mm wheelbase and flat floor maximize cabin space across all variants.

Boot capacity stands at 362 litres with all seats in place, expanding to 1,201 litres with the rear seats folded. A 15-litre frunk is available on ‘First Edition’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’ trims. Active air flaps, flush door handles, and multiple underbody covers contribute to a drag coefficient of 0.29Cd.

Plug & Charge capability and Kia CarPay are standard across the range. Optional entertainment upgrades include Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and Amazon Music streaming when parked.
