Changan UK has selected Ohme as its preferred home EV charging partner, with Ohme chargers to be recommended to Changan customers and displayed in Changan dealerships across the UK retail network. Under the agreement, Ohme will supply the charger and a full installation service along with dealer training and support, and the two companies say they intend to collaborate on evolving technologies such as vehicle-to-grid (V2G). Ohme describes itself as the UK’s largest home EV charging company and the fastest-growing EV charging company in Europe.

What the Changan-Ohme Partnership Covers
Changan UK will recommend Ohme chargers to customers who need a home charging solution as part of the vehicle purchase process. Ohme hardware will be available to view in Changan showrooms, and Ohme will provide installation as well as training and support for the dealer network.
The arrangement mirrors the dealer-integrated model Ohme has used with other automakers, pairing the charger recommendation and installation with the point of vehicle sale.

Peter McDonald of Ohme said the company welcomed the collaboration with Changan, which he described as having already established itself as a new brand on UK roads, and that Ohme looks forward to sharing its technology and knowledge with Changan, introducing Changan customers to dynamic charging and supporting the brand’s dealer network.
How Ohme Dynamic Charging Works
Ohme’s chargers use live data from the grid and are compatible with UK energy tariffs, according to the company. The chargers automatically adjust to optimize charging cost and access the lowest-cost and greenest tariff periods. A solar boost function is designed to reduce reliance on the grid.
Ohme states that fully charging a Changan Deepal S05 with a 68.8 kWh battery on a dynamic EV tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go, at 8 pence (about 11 cents) per kWh, could cost as little as $7.35 (£5.50), based on the vehicle’s 303-mile WLTP range. Ohme also offers drivers the option to charge when renewable generation on the national grid is at its highest, which the company says further lowers CO2 impact.
WLTP range figures are based on the European test cycle and are typically higher than EPA-rated ranges for comparable vehicles in the US market.
Ohme’s Position in the UK Market
Ohme is the official charger provider for Motability Operations, which the release describes as the largest fleet operator in the UK. The company has also been named the UK’s Most Reliable Home EV Charger by What Car? magazine, according to the release.
Changan’s UK lineup currently includes the all-electric Deepal S05 and S07, with the S05 Ultra PHEV referenced by Thomas as a forthcoming model.
