ChargePoint, Dabaja Brothers Deploy Fast Charging in Detroit

ChargePoint and Dabaja Brothers Development Group are deploying ultra-fast EV charging stations across metro Detroit, starting with Canton and expanding to Dearborn and Livonia.

ChargePoint and Dabaja Brothers Development Group have announced a new ultra-fast electric vehicle charging site in Canton, Michigan. The deployment marks the first in a planned series of ChargePoint fast charging installations across Dabaja Brothers-owned properties in the metro Detroit area, with additional sites planned for Dearborn and Livonia.

Highlights

  • Initial Canton site launches partnership between ChargePoint and Dabaja Brothers Development Group to address EV charging gaps in metro Detroit
  • More than 40 charging ports planned across multiple Dabaja Brothers properties throughout the region
  • ChargePoint Express Plus stations will deliver dual-vehicle simultaneous charging with sustained peak speeds
  • New ChargePoint Platform software provides real-time monitoring, performance tracking, and dynamic pricing capabilities

Partnership Addresses Regional Charging Gaps

The collaboration targets what ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer described as “fast charging deserts” across the Detroit metropolitan area. Dabaja Brothers identified limited charging availability in Canton and surrounding communities as the primary motivation for the initiative.

“We started this project because we saw a gap in our community—there was almost nowhere to charge an EV in Canton, and a similar lack of charging across metro Detroit,” said Yousef Dabaja, Owner/Operator at Dabaja Brothers Development Group.

The charging stations will be located at retail and commercial properties, enabling drivers to charge while shopping, dining, or visiting local attractions.

Technical Specifications and Capabilities

Each site will feature ChargePoint Express Plus fast charging stations with the following capabilities:

  • Dual-vehicle simultaneous charging from a single station
  • Proprietary cooling architecture enabling sustained peak charging speeds
  • Universal compatibility with all current EV makes and models
  • ChargePoint Platform integration for station management and customer service

The new ChargePoint Platform provides site operators with real-time insights, performance monitoring, pricing adjustments, and customer response tools through a flexible software interface.

Deployment Scale and Timeline

Dabaja Brothers plans to deploy more than 40 charging ports across its property portfolio, with expansion beyond the initial three announced locations under consideration. The phased rollout will extend ChargePoint’s network presence in southeastern Michigan.

ChargePoint operates a global network connecting drivers to over 1.25 million charging ports and has facilitated more than 16 billion electric miles driven.
