ChargePoint and General Motors (GM) have announced a collaboration to accelerate the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the United States. This partnership aims to install hundreds of ultra-fast charging stations by 2025, enabling faster and more accessible charging for EV drivers nationwide.
Key Highlights
- Ultra-fast charging speeds: The charging stations will feature ChargePoint’s Express Plus platform, supporting charging speeds of up to 500kW, drastically reducing charging times for EVs.
- Omni Port compatibility: Stations will include the Omni Port system, allowing vehicles with CCS or NACS connectors to charge without adapters, enhancing convenience for drivers.
- Deployment timeline: The collaboration plans to open these public stations at strategic locations across the U.S. by the end of 2025.
- Incentives for operators: A program will ease the adoption of EV infrastructure for third-party charge point operators.
