Cirba Solutions recently hosted a visit from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at their Lancaster, Ohio, facility, showcasing their leadership in domestic battery recycling and critical materials infrastructure. With over $400 million invested in expanding their operations, the company is set to produce battery-grade metal sulfates capable of powering more than 250,000 electric vehicle (EV) batteries annually. This significant expansion, partially funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, positions Cirba Solutions at the forefront of building a sustainable, domestic supply chain for EV batteries.
Key Highlights:
- DOE officials David Crane and Giulia Siccardo toured the Lancaster, Ohio facility.
- $400 million investment in Ohio expansion for battery-grade metal sulfate production.
- Project supported by $75 million from the DOE’s MESC grant program.
- Facility to be fully operational by 2026, creating over 100 new jobs.
- Expansion advances Cirba Solutions’ goal of creating a circular battery supply chain.
Cirba Solutions, a leading battery recycling and materials management company, is driving the development of a critical minerals domestic supply chain for EV batteries. The visit by DOE representatives David Crane and Giulia Siccardo underscores the strategic importance of this project, which is a vital part of the Biden administration’s Investing in America agenda.
“Across the nation, more and more communities are experiencing the benefits of an American manufacturing renaissance thanks to President Biden’s Investing in America agenda… I’m proud of the partnership we have created with Cirba Solutions as we reach this extraordinary milestone,” said David Crane, DOE Under Secretary for Infrastructure.
The Lancaster project is a testament to how public-private partnerships can bolster the future of vehicle manufacturing in the U.S. With a focus on sustainability and energy security, Cirba Solutions is setting the stage for a robust, closed-loop battery supply chain, vital for the rapidly growing demand for critical materials such as lithium, nickel, and cobalt.
As the first company to receive funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Cirba Solutions continues to lead in building a resilient and sustainable battery industry in North America, paving the way for a cleaner, more secure energy future.
