CUPRA offers a first look at its upcoming Raval electric urban car. Set for a 2026 launch, the model promises dynamic performance and will lead a new family of accessible EVs.

CUPRA has offered a first look at its upcoming electric urban car, the CUPRA Raval, at the IAA Mobility event in Munich. The brand revealed a camouflaged version of the production model, which is inspired by one of Barcelona’s most vibrant neighborhoods and is scheduled for a market launch in 2026.

Key Highlights

  • Upcoming electric urban car, the CUPRA Raval, was previewed at IAA Mobility.
  • The vehicle is scheduled for a market launch in 2026.
  • It is part of the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car family, designed to make electric mobility more accessible.
  • The top-performance version will deliver 166kW of power and feature exclusive track-inspired components.

A New Era of Urban Mobility

The CUPRA Raval is positioned to play a pivotal role in the future of electric mobility. As the first model from the Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core Electric Urban Car family, it aims to democratize electric vehicles and set a new standard in the European market. Production of the Raval will take place in Martorell, Spain, alongside other models from the family, such as the Volkswagen ID.Polo.

“The CUPRA Raval is now shaping our future. Because with it, we’ve brought together everything CUPRA stands for: emotion, striking design, electrifying performance and as always, driver focused,” said Markus Haupt, Interim CEO of CUPRA. “We are strengthening synergies within the Brand Group Core and turning the country into a hub for electric mobility, making these cars accessible to millions.”

Inspired by Barcelona’s Streets

The vehicle’s name and character are drawn from El Raval, a dynamic district in Barcelona known for its energy and urban edge. This inspiration was highlighted in the car’s camouflage vinyl, which featured a map of the neighborhood’s streets. The Raval is designed to challenge convention, embodying an emotional and unconventional spirit.

Built on Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform with a front-wheel-drive configuration, the compact car measures just over 4 meters long. Despite its urban-friendly size, it is engineered for a dynamic and engaging driver-focused experience that goes beyond city limits.

Electrifying Performance and Technology

CUPRA has engineered the Raval to deliver the brand’s signature driving dynamics. All versions will feature a sport chassis set 15mm lower, a fine-tuned suspension, progressive steering for enhanced agility, and an ESC Sport mode.

The top-of-the-line 166kW version elevates the performance further with exclusive features. These include CUPBucket seats, a DCC Sport suspension, an ESC OFF mode for maximum driver control, 19-inch wheels with wide 235mm tires, and a VAQ electronic slip differential for improved traction.

Beyond performance, the Raval will integrate technology typically found in higher-class vehicles. The car will be available with two battery sizes and various output levels. Advanced driver-assistance systems include Travel Assist with lane changing, traffic light recognition, Intelligent Park Assist, and a 360° Area View camera. Standard DC charging ensures practical, everyday usability.

Since its launch in 2018, CUPRA has sold over 800,000 vehicles globally and continues to expand its lineup with design-led, performance-driven models.
