Renault Group has completed its acquisition of Flexis, taking full ownership of the electric-van joint venture after buying out the 45% and 10% stakes held by Volvo Group and CMA CGM Group. The transaction follows the receipt of all required regulatory approvals and makes Flexis a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault Group, which says the change does not affect the venture’s product ambitions or industrial plan. It finalizes an ownership shift announced earlier this year, keeping the electric light commercial vehicle program on its original timeline.

Flexis Becomes a Wholly Owned Renault Subsidiary
With the stakes of its two former partners acquired, Renault Group now holds 100% of Flexis. The company says the consolidation does not change the product ambitions or the original industrial plan for the next generation of fully electric vans. Renault Group’s teams will complete development of the vehicles and their associated services, aimed at urban logistics and growing demand for decarbonization.
Trafic Van E-Tech Electric Leads the Range
The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric is the first model in the range and is set to enter production at the end of 2026 at Renault Group’s Sandouville plant in France. It is built on a dedicated skateboard platform designed around an 800V electric powertrain and a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture, a technology base developed since 2024. Volvo Group, through Renault Trucks, will market the vehicle from 2027 onward, continuing the two groups’ longstanding partnership in light commercial vehicles.
