SEAT & CUPRA will launch series production of the CUPRA Raval in 2026. The model is the first 100% electric vehicle to be produced at the Martorell plant. This step culminates the company’s industrial transformation and initiates the Volkswagen Group Brand Group Core’s urban electric car family in Spain.
Highlights
- The Martorell plant has adapted nearly 160,000 square meters specifically for electric vehicle production.
- More than 90 suppliers and 110 production plants in Spain support the project and account for 70% of material costs.
- Four urban electric models from three different brands will be manufactured entirely in Spain.
- SEAT & CUPRA has invested €10 billion in Spain through the Future: Fast Forward electrification project.
Martorell Plant Prepares for Electric Production
SEAT & CUPRA continues the final series 0 phase to validate processes and quality. The company renovated Production Line 1 for the CUPRA Raval. It incorporated 1,000 new robots in the bodywork phase. The firm installed 60 component stamping dies, including the new PXL press.
Four new body colors have been developed for this family of vehicles. A 600-meter automated bridge connects the battery system assembly plant to Line 1. Inaugurated in December, the bridge sits at a height of five meters. It ensures continuous and efficient battery flow directly to the production line.
Cluster for Urban Electric Cars
SEAT & CUPRA leads the cluster for the Volkswagen Group Brand Group Core urban electric car family. This includes the CUPRA Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo at Martorell. The Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID. Cross will come from Volkswagen Navarra facilities.
The teams have completed more than 560,000 hours of training. The CUPRA Raval will be the first model in the family to hit the roads.
Spain’s Role in Electrification
Change needs drivers and SEAT & CUPRA is steering the future of mobility. As the only company in Spain that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets cars, SEAT & CUPRA is a cornerstone of the nation’s automotive industry and the driving force behind its electrification.
The launch represents the largest transformation in SEAT & CUPRA’s 75-year history. It establishes Spain as a European hub for electric vehicles. The company collaborates with the Volkswagen Group, PowerCo, and other partners on the €10 billion Future: Fast Forward project.
SEAT & CUPRA sells vehicles under the SEAT and CUPRA brands including the iconic SEAT Ibiza and the bestselling CUPRA Formentor. With over 13,000 professionals and three production centers in Martorell, El Prat de Llobregat, and Barcelona, the company exports over 80% of its vehicles to more than 70 countries.
