Douai Plant Produces 100,000th Renault 5 EV

The Ampere ElectriCity plant in Douai has manufactured 100,000 Renault 5 E-Tech vehicles in just 15 months, confirming the model's status as a leader in the European electric B segment.

The Ampere ElectriCity plant in Douai reached a significant production milestone on December 2, 2025, manufacturing its 100,000th Renault 5 E-Tech electric vehicle. This volume was achieved over a 15-month period following the vehicle’s market launch in October 2024.

Production Logistics and Capacity

The Douai facility utilizes a single assembly line to manufacture six distinct electric models. In addition to the Renault 5, the line produces the Renault Megane, Renault Scenic E-Tech, Alpine A290, Nissan Micra, and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. To support current demand, the workforce operates on a three-shift schedule.

This rotation includes morning and afternoon shifts, along with a night shift that has operated at half the daytime production rate since October 13. The 100,000th vehicle to roll off the line was a techno version equipped with a 52kWh battery. This specific configuration represents the most common combination of trim level and battery specification currently produced at the site.

Supply Chain Localization

Renault has structured its manufacturing strategy around the Ampere ElectriCity complex to shorten supply lines. Approximately two-thirds of the suppliers for these vehicles are located within a 300-kilometer radius of the assembly plant. This ecosystem includes the Cléon plant, which manufactures the electric motors.

The complex also integrates the Ruitz plant, which specializes in producing pinions for hybrid and electric gearboxes. Furthermore, Ruitz manages the production of battery cases through the Minth Electricity Technology joint venture. The Maubeuge plant completes the regional complex, focusing on the assembly of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric.
