Hyundai announced plans to introduce 36 new or significantly updated vehicles across North America between 2026 and 2030. CEO José Muñoz shared the strategy at the company’s annual shareholder meeting on March 26, 2026. The lineup will span cars, SUVs, trucks, and commercial vehicles with ICE, hybrid, EV, and extended-range electric (EREV) powertrains.
Highlights
- 36 models planned for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico through 2030, including XRT and N performance trims
- 80% domestic assembly target for U.S.-sold Hyundai vehicles by 2030
- Supply-chain localization expected to increase from roughly 60% to 80% U.S. content
- $26 billion U.S. investment by Hyundai Motor Group supports the product and manufacturing expansion
Powertrain and Product Strategy
The 36 planned launches include core models along with expanded trims and performance derivatives. Hyundai will offer ICE, hybrid (HEV), battery electric (EV), and extended-range electric (EREV) options across the portfolio.
The strategy aims to address varying customer preferences across the region. However, Hyundai did not disclose specific model names or a detailed launch timeline beyond the 2026–2030 window.
U.S. Manufacturing and Localization
Hyundai’s product expansion ties into a broader push toward domestic production. The company targets assembling more than 80% of its U.S.-sold vehicles domestically by 2030. Additionally, U.S. supply-chain content is expected to rise from approximately 60% to 80%.
These efforts build on Hyundai Motor Group’s previously announced $26 billion U.S. investment, which includes a steel mill in Louisiana and a robotics innovation hub.
“Hyundai is accelerating across North America,” said José Muñoz, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hyundai Motor Company. “By expanding our product portfolio and offering a wider range of powertrains in North America, we’re giving customers more choice while continuing to strengthen our long-term investment in U.S. manufacturing, jobs, and the broader automotive ecosystem.”
2025 Sales Context
Hyundai Motor North America sold more than 1.19 million Hyundai and Genesis vehicles in 2025. That figure represented an 8% increase over 2024, sold through its 1,400 dealerships across the region.
