EV Edison has announced the launch of its flagship electric vehicle charging and fleet services hub in Kearny, NJ. This facility is now the largest multi-class charging hub on the East Coast. Strategically positioned near the Port of Newark, the Holland Tunnel, and major interstate corridors, the hub provides a complete ecosystem for EV fleet operators. The initial phase includes 30 high-power charging ports, with significant plans for future expansion.
Key Highlights
- The hub is the largest of its kind on the East Coast, featuring 30 charging ports capable of delivering 180kW in its first phase.
- Located in Kearny, NJ, the site offers strategic access to key transportation and logistics corridors.
- Full-service fleet operations are available, including 24/7 high-security access, truck parking, and driver amenities.
- The facility is already supporting the electric and autonomous vehicle operations of freight technology company Einride.
A Hub for Next-Generation Logistics
The Kearny facility is engineered to provide more than just charging; it aims to support the entire operational cycle of electrified fleets. “This facility is about more than charging—it’s about enabling next-generation logistics,” stated Dr. Shihab Kuran, Executive Chairman of EV Edison. The hub offers 24/7 high-security access, ample truck parking and staging areas, a driver lounge, flexible office space, and food services.
The site is already serving as a crucial base for Einride, a company specializing in electric and autonomous freight technology. “This facility gives us a strategic base to grow our electric fleet in the Northeast,” said Chelsea Thompson, Director of Operations at Einride. “EV Edison’s infrastructure, location, and operational services make it a natural partner as we expand access to clean freight solutions.”
Driving a Zero-Emission Future
The project has garnered widespread support from state and local leaders who see it as a significant step toward a cleaner economy. Built on land owned by Hugo Neu Realty, a developer committed to sustainability, the hub is seen as a “transformative project for the region” that brings clean energy jobs and revitalizes industrial land.
Officials from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU), the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and the economic development organization Choose New Jersey have all praised the initiative. “Moving toward clean, electric cars and trucks on New Jersey’s roads is more important than ever,” said Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette. Christine Guhl-Sadovy, President of the NJBPU, added that the project amplifies the state’s efforts to build a reliable charging network and helps ensure New Jersey remains a national leader in clean transportation.
With an eye toward the future, the hub is prepared to support major regional events, including the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, by providing critical charging infrastructure for logistics, media, and fan transportation.
