Andersen EV, Octopus Energy Bundle Free Charging

Andersen EV and Octopus Energy offer six months of free home EV charging on all Andersen charger purchases, saving drivers roughly £234 and 4,370 miles of electricity costs.

Andersen EV and Octopus Energy have launched a joint promotion offering six months of free home EV charging. The deal applies to anyone purchasing an Andersen charge point from March 1, 2026. According to Octopus Energy’s analysis, the offer equates to roughly 4,370 miles of free driving and £234 ($295 USD) in electricity savings.

Highlights

  • Six months of free charging for all new Andersen EV charger purchases, delivered through Octopus Energy’s Intelligent Octopus Go smart tariff
  • Savings based on off-peak rate of 7.5p/kWh, compared to the standard 24.67p rate set by Ofgem
  • Full Andersen lineup eligible, including the A3, A2, and compact Quartz models
  • Timing aligns with expanded UK government EV charger grants, which now cover nearly half the typical installation cost

How the Promotion Works

The free charging benefit is delivered through Intelligent Octopus Go, Octopus Energy’s smart EV tariff. The tariff optimizes charging sessions during off-peak periods using low-cost, renewable-led electricity. As a result, the savings calculation is based on the difference between the 7.5p/kWh smart rate and the current Ofgem standard rate of 24.67p/kWh.

The average energy consumption figure used is 0.303 kWh per mile, sourced from EV Database UK. Meanwhile, the mileage baseline of 8,740 annual miles comes from Solera cap hpi’s 2025 Market Analysis.

Timing Targets New EV Buyers

The promotion coincides with the introduction of the UK’s ’26’ registration plate for new vehicles. This period typically sees a spike in new car purchases. Andersen EV CEO David Martell described the March plate change as one of the most significant moments in the UK motoring calendar. He added that the offer builds on an existing Octopus partnership that has already delivered thousands of low-cost miles for UK EV drivers.

Additionally, the UK government recently expanded its EV charger installation grants. The grants now cover almost half of a typical installation. Combined with six months of free charging, the package creates a stronger financial case for drivers considering the switch to electric.

Eligible Charger Models

All models in Andersen’s portfolio qualify for the promotion:

  • Andersen A3: Award-winning flagship charger with customizable finishes
  • Andersen A2: Mid-range option with similar design-led aesthetics
  • Andersen Quartz: Compact model suited to smaller installation spaces

Each unit features customizable facias and finishes. Buyers can select from a range of materials and colors to match the unit to their home’s exterior.

Industry Perspective

Richard Sephton, Head of EV Partnerships at Octopus Energy, said the bundled solution allows EV drivers to unlock hundreds of pounds in annual savings through smart tariffs. He noted that the approach delivers a charging experience that effectively pays for itself over time.

However, it is worth noting the savings figures assume consistent use of the off-peak Intelligent Octopus Go rate. Actual savings will vary depending on individual charging habits and energy consumption patterns.
