A Fusion of Heritage and Innovation
Project Powder Keg reimagines the iconic Land Rover Defender 110 by integrating modern EV technology while preserving its rugged, adventurous spirit. According to Elliot Humble, ECD’s Chief Technical Officer, the challenge was to maintain the Defender’s timeless character while delivering the instant torque and refined performance of an electric drivetrain. The result is a vehicle that excels in both daily driving and off-road adventures, offering a seamless blend of power and sustainability.
The exterior design strikes a balance between elegance and durability. The Bonatti Gray finish, paired with Shadow Black accents, creates a sophisticated yet commanding presence. A six-point external roll cage enhances safety, while a metal A-bar bumper fitted with a Warn winch ensures off-road readiness. For superior visibility in challenging conditions, the vehicle is equipped with LED spotlights mounted on both the front and rear.

Cutting-Edge Electric Performance
At the core of Project Powder Keg is ECD’s Electric Direct EV drivetrain, a proprietary system delivering over 300 horsepower and 368 lb.-ft. of torque. The 84 kWh battery pack provides a range of up to 200 miles, making it suitable for both urban commutes and extended journeys. Drivers can tailor the vehicle’s performance via a touchscreen interface, selecting between Sport, Eco, and Normal modes to suit their driving needs. The selectable two- or four-wheel-drive system ensures versatility across various terrains, while the fast-charging capability allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in under an hour, combining convenience with high performance.

Luxurious and Functional Interior
The interior of Project Powder Keg reflects ECD’s dedication to craftsmanship and luxury. Handcrafted Sumac upholstery creates a warm, inviting cabin, complemented by an Exmoor Evander steering wheel that blends vintage aesthetics with modern functionality. Recaro Orthoped seats in the front and middle rows provide exceptional comfort, while the rear features four inward-facing jump seats upholstered in Veluto Pelle leather, offering both versatility and style. Billet aluminum accents and a modern infotainment system elevate the driving experience, ensuring both driver and passengers enjoy premium comfort and connectivity.

A Testament to Customization
As Elliot Humble emphasized, ECD excels at pushing the boundaries of performance and personalization. Project Powder Keg exemplifies this commitment, delivering a vehicle that meets the client’s unique vision while advancing the possibilities for electrified classic vehicles.
