VinFast VF 8 New-Generation SUV Priced at VND 999 Million

VinFast unveils the new-generation VF 8 priced at VND 999 million (~US$38,000), featuring a 60.13 kWh battery, 500 km NEDC range, software-defined architecture, and pre-orders opening May 27 in Vietnam.

VinFast has introduced a new-generation VF 8 priced at VND 999 million (about US$38,000) for the Vietnam market, with pre-orders opening through company channels on May 27. The Vietnamese automaker says the D-segment electric SUV is the first model in its lineup to receive a comprehensive overhaul of design, technology, and features, and the company has confirmed first deliveries for late July. Details of the launch, including specifications and warranty terms, were released through VinFast’s official announcement.

Highlights

  • Priced at VND 999 million (~US$38,000) with pre-orders opening May 27 through VinFast’s website and authorized dealer network in Vietnam
  • 60.13 kWh battery pack delivering up to 500 km of range based on NEDC standards, with 10–70% fast charging in under 30 minutes
  • Single front-mounted electric motor producing 170 kW (228 hp) and 330 Nm of peak torque
  • Seven-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty paired with an eight-year or 160,000 km battery warranty

Platform and Powertrain

The new-generation VF 8 is built on a new chassis platform with Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD) on both front and rear axles. The company reports that the suspension system adjusts damping characteristics to road conditions to reduce vibration on rough surfaces while maintaining vehicle stability.

The SUV uses a 60.13 kWh battery pack and is powered by a single electric motor producing a maximum output of 170 kW (228 horsepower) and peak torque of 330 Nm, paired with front-wheel drive. VinFast lists three driving modes — Eco, Normal, and Sport — and a driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge based on NEDC standards. The vehicle supports fast charging from 10% to 70% in under 30 minutes.

VinFast also says the new VF 8 features an Integrated Thermal Management (ITM) system the company independently developed and patented. According to VinFast, the ITM coordinates cooling and heating across the battery, motor, electrical system, and cabin to support fast-charging capability, energy efficiency, and battery and motor durability.

Software-Defined Architecture

The vehicle is built on a new electrical and electronic architecture using a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) approach, with system architecture and control software developed in-house by VinFast engineers. At the center sits a Central Vehicle Computer (CVC), which the company says manages data processing and vehicle control functions to enable faster response to driver inputs.

This is a continuation of VinFast’s move toward in-house software and electronics control, building on the smart-mode functionality already deployed in the current VF 8 lineup in North America.

Dimensions and Cabin

The new-generation VF 8 measures 4,701 mm long, 1,872 mm wide, and 1,670 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm and five-seat layout. Ground clearance is 170 mm and the vehicle rides on 19-inch wheels.

Inside, the dashboard centers on a 12.9-inch infotainment display with most vehicle controls integrated into the interface. A secondary display behind the steering wheel provides driving information, and the gear selector is mounted on the steering column. Cabin equipment includes:

  • Climate: Dual-zone automatic climate control with integrated air ionization and a Combi 1.0 air filter
  • Seating: Six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function; second-row seats with 60:40 split fold-flat
  • Audio: Eight-speaker system
  • Voice control: Virtual assistant with support for multiple Vietnamese dialects

Safety and ADAS

The new-generation VF 8 is equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite including Highway Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Warning, and a high-definition 360-degree camera system. VinFast says the chassis structure and ADAS technologies were developed to meet ASEAN NCAP 5-star safety standards.

Pricing, Warranty, and Availability

VinFast opens pre-orders in Vietnam on May 27, 2026, through its website and authorized dealer network. The listed price is VND 999 million, which converts to roughly US$38,000 at current exchange rates. Warranty coverage is seven years or 160,000 km on the vehicle and eight years or 160,000 km on the battery, whichever comes first. First deliveries are expected to begin in late July.

The new-generation VF 8 launch follows VinFast’s announcement earlier this month of Memoranda of Understanding signed with 29 international aftersales partners, part of a plan to grow its global service network to more than 1,100 workshops in 2026.
