Edge Energy, a pioneer in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has been chosen to participate in the prestigious New York City Clean Construction Innovation Pilot. This selection highlights the company’s innovative approach to solving a major hurdle in EV adoption: the reliance on three-phase power infrastructure. Edge Energy’s groundbreaking technology enables rapid charging of EVs and battery-operated construction equipment using only single-phase power, offering a game-changing solution for sustainable transportation and construction.

Key Highlights

  • Edge Energy selected for NYC Clean Construction Innovation Pilot
  • Technology enables rapid EV charging with single-phase power
  • Overcomes limitation of three-phase power availability
  • Potential to accelerate EV adoption in underserved areas
  • Aligns with NYC’s sustainability goals

Traditional rapid charging stations for EVs depend on three-phase power, which is scarce in many areas. Only about half of the U.S. has access to this infrastructure, limiting the spread of EV charging stations, especially in rural or older urban regions. This gap has slowed the shift to cleaner transportation options.

Edge Energy’s patent-pending phase conversion hardware tackles this issue directly. It allows Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC) and Level 3 stations to function on single-phase power, making rapid charging more accessible. This innovation lets EV owners and construction crews charge quickly and efficiently, even where upgrading to three-phase power isn’t feasible.

The NYC Clean Construction Innovation Pilot, part of the city’s Testbed Program, offers Edge Energy a real-world stage to showcase its technology. New York City’s focus on sustainability makes it an ideal testing ground. By joining this pilot, Edge Energy supports the city’s goals of cutting emissions and advancing eco-friendly urban growth.

Shaun Shuler, CEO of Edge Energy, shared his excitement: “We are thrilled to participate in NYC’s Clean Construction Innovation Pilot. Our solution eliminates the need for costly three-phase upgrades, enabling rapid charging from single-phase sources.”

Since its founding in 2020, Edge Energy has emerged as a leader in sustainable infrastructure. Its technology simplifies and reduces the cost of installing ultra-fast charging stations, paving the way for broader clean energy adoption.

As cities like New York prioritize sustainability, Edge Energy’s innovation is vital. It makes rapid charging possible in more places, driving a future where clean transportation and construction thrive.
