The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ technology marks a significant milestone for the brand, offering a diverse array of powertrains to meet various customer demands. Engineered as a BEV, it incorporates cutting-edge technology, setting benchmarks in performance, range, efficiency, and charging speed. Recently, prototypes underwent rigorous winter trials in Sweden’s Arctic Circle, conquering freezing temperatures and snow-covered roads with remarkable resilience.

Christoph Starzynski, Vice President Overall Vehicle Development & Integration at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, stated, “Our new electric GLC is a car without compromises – and we test it just as uncompromisingly. During winter testing in Sweden, our new, all-electric GLC demonstrated its reliability and robustness even under extreme conditions. It represents innovation and quality – a fact we have proven in the Scandinavian winter.”

Despite frigid conditions, the electric GLC delivers high efficiency and practical range, maintaining Mercedes-Benz’s renowned safety and comfort standards. Its 4MATIC all-wheel drive system ensures confident handling and traction on icy roads, with a front-axle drive unit that engages or disengages as needed for optimal torque distribution.

The vehicle’s innovative braking system integrates components into a compact module, providing precise feedback and optimizing energy recuperation to enhance range. Equipped with an 800-volt architecture and advanced battery technology, including silicon oxide anodes, it achieves impressive range and supports DC charging at over 320 kW. An efficient air-side heat pump heats the interior using one-third the energy of traditional systems, ensuring comfort even during fast charging in cold weather.

Mercedes-Benz’s testing program in Arjeplog, Sweden, includes over 500 individual tests per model, with additional eDrive and charging evaluations for electric vehicles. This rigorous process, combined with global extreme-condition testing, guarantees uncompromising reliability before production begins.
