Electrify America has expanded its Technology Campus near its headquarters in Northern Virginia, providing a larger space dedicated to advancing electric vehicle (EV) charging technology. The new facility, spanning over 32,000 square feet, features 22 Hyper-Fast chargers and a new Technology Development Lab. This expansion aims to enhance equipment testing and reliability across diverse real-world conditions, ultimately improving the EV charging experience for customers.
The expanded campus, which also includes the Center of Excellence Lab, allows for more extensive testing and analysis to support the growing EV market in North America. Electrify America’s goal is to ensure a seamless charging experience through advanced technology validation and collaborations with automakers.

The Technology Campus includes the Center of Excellence Lab, initially opened in 2018, and the newly added Technology Development Lab. These labs are integral to Electrify America’s mission to provide high-quality charging experiences by supporting hardware, software, and interoperability testing. The labs also complement the company’s broader support ecosystem, which includes a 24/7 Network Operations Center, Customer Contact Center, and Field Service Engineers.
The Center of Excellence Lab focuses on hardware testing, including current and next-generation chargers and battery energy storage systems (BESS). It also supports interoperability testing with automakers, ensuring that charging stations work seamlessly with a wide range of electric vehicles.
The new Technology Development Lab enhances product qualification testing, including stress testing and maximum power delivery assessments. This lab will also conduct component benchtop testing to build future insights for improved EV charging infrastructure.
Electrify America has experienced significant growth in its charging network, with over 10 million customer charging sessions recorded in 2023, up from 5 million in 2022. The Technology Campus is crucial to enhancing quality, supporting future collaborations with automakers, and advancing Hyper-Fast charging technologies such as 350 kW charging and Plug&Charge capabilities.
The company remains committed to advancing industry standards and investing in new technologies to ensure its charging network meets the needs of EV drivers today and in the future.
