Endera Wins California’s Largest Statewide Purchasing Contract for Electric Buses

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Basin Transit Authority (MBTA) has authorized Endera to provide the California Association for Coordinated Transportation (CALACT) with their B-Series all-electric buses. This marks the largest statewide purchasing contract for electric buses in U.S. history, with up to 1,000 electric shuttles to be procured through Endera’s distribution partner, Coachwest Luxury & Performance Motorcars.

CALACT is the largest state transit association in the U.S. and helps fleet operators streamline procurement efforts by offering a single, state-approved source for transit vehicles. With over 300 members, CALACT aims to promote professional excellence and improve public transportation throughout California.

Endera is the only vertically integrated mid-sized EV bus maker in the U.S. All electric powertrains and vehicle bodies are built at their 250,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Ottawa, Ohio. The company’s R&D headquarters, located in Los Angeles, develops their proprietary electric powertrains. With a focus on quality and service, Endera offers state-wide service capability with its R&D facility and service partners.

According to John Walsh, Founder & CEO of Endera, the company was awarded the CALACT contract due to its low cost and comprehensive offering. Endea’s electric shuttles feature a fast-charging option, increasing uptime for operators, and a fully integrated software ecosystem that makes it easier and less expensive to adopt electric buses.

Don White, Sales Manager at Endera, expressed his pride in being one of the few companies to successfully complete the rigorous CALACT vetting process. He emphasized that Endera’s electric buses are an excellent option for fleet operators of any size, offering reliable and affordable electric shuttles.

Coachwest is excited to offer Endera products under the CALACT contract. Jay Real, Manager of Sales at Coachwest, noted that these cutting-edge vehicles are also eligible for Hybrid and Zero Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) point-of-sale vouchers.

Endera’s B-Series electric buses feature smart technology, including proprietary dispatch software that tracks vehicles and routes, automates records and energy management, and streamlines reporting and vehicle service. The platform also integrates with Endera GO, a consumer app designed to improve the riders’ experience. The B-Series offers a 12-passenger + 2 and a 16-passenger + 2 wheelchair seating option, with additional floorplans available to meet each agency’s requirements. With the ability to charge in as little as 45 minutes, the B-Series is the fastest charging electric bus of its class in the U.S.
