Fermata Energy, a leader in bidirectional technology for electric vehicles (EVs), has announced a significant partnership with BorgWarner Inc. to enhance Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) charging capabilities. This collaboration marks a pivotal advancement in the integration of bidirectional charging technology, aligning with Fermata Energy’s vision for a sustainable renewable energy ecosystem and aiming to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for EV fleets.

The partnership leverages Fermata Energy’s innovative software and BorgWarner’s robust hardware, specifically their UL certified 60kW and 125kW chargers, to broaden the application of intelligent bidirectional technology across medium- and heavy-duty transportation sectors. Additionally, it facilitates a significant expansion in the North American market by optimizing V2X bidirectional charging with a Combined Charging System (CCS) communication protocol.

Fermata Energy’s efforts to embed bidirectional charging capabilities with automotive OEMs highlight its commitment to technological innovation and market leadership. Notable collaborations include a strategic research project with Toyota Motor North America and San Diego Gas & Electric Company, and a milestone approval from Nissan for Fermata Energy’s FE-15 charger for use with the Nissan LEAF in the U.S., ensuring no impact on the vehicle’s battery warranty.
