Faraday Future recently hosted its first FF Open AI Day at its Los Angeles headquarters, unveiling its latest venture, Future AIHER—the world’s first AI hybrid extended-range electric powertrain system company. The event highlighted the company’s AI-driven strategy, focusing on innovative powertrain solutions for its FF and FX models, as well as broader applications in industries like electric boating and aviation.

Key Highlights of Faraday Future’s AI Strategy

  • Future AIHER Launch: A new subsidiary dedicated to developing AI hybrid extended-range (AIHER) and super AI extended-range powertrain systems for electric vehicles and beyond.
  • Open AI Day Success: The event featured presentations and panel discussions with AI experts, FF employees, and potential talent, emphasizing the company’s AI-focused future.
  • Multi-Industry Applications: Future AIHER aims to serve automotive OEMs, commercial trucking, electric vertical takeoff and landing (EVTOL) aircraft, and electric boating sectors.

Faraday Future’s AI strategy centers on integrating artificial intelligence across its entire vehicle ecosystem. The company is building an end-to-end AI product ecosystem, driven by in-house research, open collaboration, and user-specific customization. This approach seeks to transform vehicles into intelligent mobile devices, enhancing user experiences through features like voice and gesture controls. FF’s Founder and Chief Product and User Ecosystem Officer, YT Jia, emphasized this vision, stating, “AI will reshape the use of automobiles… The way people move is a core use case for AI applications, and its future is being completely restructured.”

The newly established Future AIHER subsidiary focuses on two flagship products: a super AI hybrid extended-range system (AIHER) and a super AI extended-range system. These innovations aim to address limitations in traditional plug-in hybrids, such as delayed power delivery and limited intelligence, while offering high performance and cost efficiency. In the short term, Future AIHER plans to integrate third-party range extender technology into Faraday X (FX) concept vehicles for a faster market entry. Long-term goals include designing proprietary AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and expand into other mobility sectors.

Faraday Future’s development roadmap outlines four phases: establishing an AI foundation with basic voice features, advancing multimodal AI for better human-vehicle interaction, creating an AI automotive operating system (AIOS) with open APIs, and continuously upgrading models for broader commercial use. The company plans to launch three core AI-powered products: the Super AIHER system, an AI Cabin Agent, and an end-to-end open-source AI driving model, targeting deployment in future FX mass-production vehicles.

This AI-first approach is expected to generate new revenue streams, such as in-car subscriptions and value-added services, while fostering user loyalty through personalized experiences. By collaborating with global developers and AI experts, Faraday Future aims to set new industry benchmarks and drive innovation across the intelligent electric vehicle (IEV) sector.

The FF Open AI Day showcased the company’s commitment to this vision, despite the absence of Global CEO Matthias Aydt due to unforeseen circumstances. Presentations by YT Jia and FX Global CEO Max Ma underscored the potential of AI to elevate vehicles into “intelligent partners” for users.

Since its founding in 2014, Faraday Future has aimed to disrupt the automotive industry with a user-centric, technology-first approach. Its flagship FF 91 model reflects this mission, blending luxury and performance with advanced tech. The FX strategy targets a broader market with mass-production models, integrating similar innovations at more accessible price points. With Future AIHER, Faraday Future is poised to lead the evolution of powertrain technology, redefining mobility for the future.
