Ford Trucks has signed a long-term agreement with ZF to equip its new line of electrified heavy trucks with cutting-edge electric drives. ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division will provide its CeTrax 2 dual electric drive and Electrically Powered Hydraulic Steering Pump (EPHS) to support Ford Trucks’ shift towards sustainable transportation. This partnership highlights ZF’s leadership in electric drive technology and Ford Trucks’ commitment to innovation in the heavy commercial vehicle sector.
Key Highlights:
- ZF will supply its CeTrax 2 dual electric central drive for Ford Trucks’ Electric Rigid Truck, premiering at the IAA Transportation 2024.
- Ford Trucks will also receive ZF’s Electrically Powered Hydraulic Steering Pump (EPHS), a system designed to efficiently manage the hydraulic steering of commercial vehicles using electric power.
- The compact design of ZF’s CeTrax 2 allows manufacturers to switch between electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) drivetrains on the same production line, offering flexibility during the transition to e-mobility.
- Prof. Dr. Peter Laier, a member of ZF’s board of management, emphasized that this agreement strengthens ZF’s position as a leader in electric commercial drives and reflects Ford Trucks’ trust in their e-mobility solutions.
- Emrah Duman, Ford Trucks Vice President, highlighted the importance of a trusted partnership and sustainability roadmap as essential for Ford’s mission to lead the shift toward sustainable transport solutions.
The collaboration with ZF marks an important milestone for both companies as they work together to provide advanced, zero-emissions technologies to the commercial vehicle market. By integrating ZF’s electric drives and steering solutions, Ford Trucks will be better positioned to offer best-in-class vehicles that meet the growing demand for sustainable transport options.
This partnership reflects a broader industry trend as automotive manufacturers increasingly shift toward electrification and e-mobility solutions for a greener future.
