Harbinger Launches Electric HC Series Cab Work Truck

Harbinger unveils the HC Series Cab, an electric and hybrid medium-duty LCF work truck with 500-mile hybrid range, 15 kW power export, and planned ADAS integration.

Harbinger has unveiled the HC Series Cab, a medium-duty low cab forward (LCF) work truck available in all-electric and plug-in hybrid configurations. Announced today at Work Truck Week 2026 in Indianapolis, the vehicle is now open for orders. The HC Series Cab targets fleets that need tight maneuverability, high payload capacity, and onboard power export for jobsite equipment.

Highlights

  • Hybrid range up to 500 miles: A gasoline range extender recharges the battery pack on the move and while parked, eliminating dependence on external charging infrastructure.
  • 15 kW exportable power: An onboard AC inverter option enables both EV and hybrid models to power tools and equipment directly from the vehicle.
  • 42-foot turning diameter: The 158-inch wheelbase LCF design delivers tight-radius maneuverability for urban and regional routes.
  • ADAS integration planned for 2026: Following its recent acquisition of Phantom AI, Harbinger will add emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping to its medium-duty lineup.

Vehicle Specifications and Design

The HC Series Cab carries a 26,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and supports a range of body configurations, including cargo boxes, stake beds, and flatbeds. The LCF architecture allows longer cargo bodies on shorter wheelbases, increasing usable cargo volume without adding overall vehicle length.

The frame height sits at approximately 29 inches at GVWR. This low profile is designed to speed up entry, exit, and loading operations. Independent front suspension and an electric drivetrain provide a smoother, quieter ride compared to conventional diesel platforms.

Hybrid and Power Export Platform

Harbinger’s range-extended hybrid platform pairs an electric drivetrain with a gasoline engine dedicated to recharging the batteries. In hybrid configuration, the system supports up to 500 miles of range depending on upfit and drive cycle. The vehicle can also recharge while stationary without plugging in.

Full power take-off (PTO) functionality enables operation of hydraulic and body-mounted equipment. In hybrid mode, the 15 kW power export system runs continuously through onboard generation. This eliminates the need for separate jobsite generators.

Purpose-Built Electric Architecture

Unlike electrified conversions of existing combustion platforms, the HC Series Cab is built on Harbinger’s proprietary vertically integrated electric architecture. The company designs and manufactures the powertrain, battery system, steering, and brakes in-house. Shared components across Harbinger’s vehicle lineup are intended to simplify fleet maintenance and parts management.

The electric drivetrain reduces routine maintenance requirements. A modular front-end design simplifies collision repairs and lowers total cost of ownership. Harbinger has set durability targets exceeding 450,000 miles for the platform.

ADAS and Driver Safety Features

Harbinger recently acquired Phantom AI to bring advanced driver assistance systems to its medium-duty vehicles. Current safety features include backup cameras with dynamic trajectory, virtual bumpers, and acoustic vehicle alerting systems.

In 2026, Harbinger plans to add emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping across its electric and hybrid lineup. The company described the ADAS integration as a response to fleet demand for stronger safety systems in the medium-duty segment.

“The HC Series Cab represents a major expansion of our product line and a defining moment for the medium-duty industry,” said John Harris, Co-Founder and CEO of Harbinger. “For too long, fleets have had to compromise between payload, maneuverability, range and onboard capability. We engineered this platform to outperform legacy diesel options while unlocking new advantages through electrification and our range-extended hybrid system to enable real work in the field.”

The HC Series Cab is on display at Harbinger booth 413 during Work Truck Week 2026. The company is also offering ride-and-drive experiences of its range-extended Hybrid Step Van at the event.
