Ford has introduced the Ford Power Promise in the UK, designed to simplify the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) for drivers. This comprehensive initiative tackles common barriers to EV adoption, such as concerns about charging infrastructure, battery longevity, and overall ownership complexity, by providing a range of benefits to new EV purchasers.
Key Highlights:
- Free home charging wall box with standard installation
- Home energy bonus offering up to 10,000 free miles
- Eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on high voltage components and battery
- Five-year service plan at no additional cost
- Five-year towing assistance, including for vehicles that run out of charge
- Access to over 33,000 public charging points in the UK via the BlueOval™ Charge Network
- Simplified public charging payments through the FordPass app
- Discounted home charging rates through a partnership with Octopus Energy

The Ford Power Promise stands out as a unique offering, addressing uncertainties tied to EV ownership. A recent Ford survey of 5,000 European drivers revealed that 25% of respondents hesitate to buy EVs due to complexity and uncertainty. Additionally, one in eight found arranging home charging difficult, one-third worried about charging times, and over 30% expressed concerns about battery life.
To counter these barriers, Ford provides a free home charging wall box with installation, allowing drivers to charge conveniently overnight. The home energy bonus covers energy costs for up to 10,000 miles, enhancing the financial appeal of going electric. An eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the battery and high voltage components ensures reliability, while a five-year service plan and towing assistance—including rescue for out-of-charge situations—offer ongoing support.
Ford EV owners also benefit from the BlueOval™ Charge Network, with over 33,000 UK public charging points, and the FordPass app simplifies payments. Through a partnership with Octopus Energy, the ‘Intelligent Octopus Go’ tariff offers charging at just 7p per kWh during off-peak hours, potentially saving up to 70% on energy costs. For instance, charging the Puma Gen-E could cost as little as £3.23.
Lisa Brankin, Chair and Managing Director of Ford UK, said, “Switching to an electric vehicle for the first time can be daunting for some drivers. That’s why Ford has launched this one-of-a-kind promise to simplify and de-stress the entire ownership experience.”
The offer applies to Ford’s electric passenger vehicle lineup, including the Explorer, Capri, Puma Gen-E, Mustang Mach-E, E-Tourneo Custom, and E-Tourneo Courier. A £500 cash alternative is available for those opting out of the charger and energy bonus. Ford Pro also provides a £10 home charger package for commercial vehicle customers.
