Geely Auto Group has introduced Geely Smart Charging, an AI-powered charging system that the company says charged the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes 30 seconds in real-world tests. The technology debuts this week alongside the fifth-generation Geely Smart Charging Station, rated for peak charging power of up to 2,250 kW, and the Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery. According to Geely, the same vehicles charged from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes 40 seconds, which the company calls its fastest production-ready charging performance to date.
Highlights
- Charging times: 10% to 70% in 4 minutes 30 seconds and 10% to 97% in 8 minutes 40 seconds in real-world tests on the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001, according to Geely.
- Station output: The fifth-generation Geely Smart Charging Station supports peak charging power of 2,250 kW.
- Thermal targets: The system predicts battery temperature up to 30 seconds ahead and is designed to hold average charging temperature below 131°F (55°C) and peak temperature below 149°F (65°C).
- Battery life: Geely reports that AI charging management combined with pulse restoration technology adds up to 20% more battery cycle life.
What Is Xingrui PowerMind?
At the center of Geely Smart Charging is Xingrui PowerMind, a smart energy AI model jointly developed by Geely Auto Group and StepFun. The model coordinates the vehicle, battery, charging station, cloud, grid, and energy storage system.
Using PowerMind, the system builds a charging strategy tailored to each vehicle and battery. It adjusts peak current, cooling intensity, and charging duration in real time.
Predictive Thermal Management
The charging software uses algorithms to forecast battery temperature up to 30 seconds in advance and adjust charging power dynamically, rather than responding only after temperatures climb. Geely says the system is designed to keep average battery temperature during charging below 131°F (55°C) and peak temperature below 149°F (65°C).
A five-point liquid cooling system, which Geely describes as an industry first, manages heat across the full charging chain:
- Station energy-storage battery supplying the charger
- Charger dispenser
- Charging cable
- Vehicle charging port
- Battery pack
How Does Geely Smart Charging Protect Battery Life?
Geely positions the system as a response to consumer concern over how ultra-fast charging affects battery longevity. Alongside the AI charging management, the company has developed lithium-ion pulse restoration technology. It uses micro-pulse currents to reactivate lithium ions that accumulate at the negative electrodes during repeated fast charging.
According to Geely, combining the two technologies increases battery cycle life by up to 20%. For home charging, the company has also developed a low-rate charging strategy intended to gradually reverse degradation from repeated fast charging and protect cells over the battery’s life.
Charging Hardware and Batteries
The fifth-generation Geely Smart Charging Station adds an AI fast charging function that matches charging power to the battery’s real-time condition. Geely introduced two batteries alongside it:
| Battery | Peak Charging Rate | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Shendun Golden Battery | 12C | Ultra-fast charging and high performance |
| Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery | 6C | Longevity, safety, and affordable models; 10% less heat during charging |
In real-world tests, the Shendun Golden Battery used in the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 delivered the 4-minute-30-second and 8-minute-40-second results. The Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery uses Geely-developed laser-welding technology for its cell tabs and covers, which the company says cuts heat during charging by 10%.
Geely Auto Group introduces Geely Smart Charging with the Xingrui PowerMind AI model, a 2,250 kW station, predictive thermal control, and pulse restoration technology aimed at extending battery cycle life.
